All HD DVD player are capable of reading up to at least triple layer, it may be possible that they can read quad layer too. BD atm can only read up to dual layer, and there really no need for more than 50GB at the moment. And there probably wont be for at least this gen and the next.

Transformers on HDDVD actually ran out of space enough that they couldn't add HD sound and had to use a non-HD standard digital format. They also had to put the extras on a separate disc. So there were some space issues already with the format.

I'm just glad I ebayed my HDDVD stuff two weeks before it finally died.
