Come on Playstation 3 Owners...join the Blu Cause

So why don't you all start using it in that way. If more Playstation 3 owners actually used the Blu ray features of their playstation 3, the high definition format war would have been over six months ago. Even if every Playstation 3 owner bought 1 Blu ray film, that added on top of all currently sold Blu ray films would equal up to 20,000,000 disc software sales. Now imagine if you would 5 sales per Playstation 3, or even 10. That way Blu ray would become the best selling format out of DVD and Blu ray. The future is now, and it's Blu, embrace it. Thanks, Jedidiah Rose.

To be honest i don't think blu ray will last all that long ethier. Downloading movies and such seems to be the future not disks anymore. Not many people i know buy CD music anymore. Soon not many people will bother with movies on a disk when you can stall it all nice and neat on a hard drive. Id much rather have a 20 movies all on a hard drive instead of having 20 CD cases lying around taking up room.

I wouldn't write off blu-ray discs just yet. Downloading movies still has a long way to go before the majority of people switch over. At the moment I actiulally like to see something physical for my money spent!!

Actually, often movies downloaded for High Definition aren't as good as Blu ray's physical disc based High Definition, and we have at least the next five years before the switch over becomes accepted globally.I mean, most movie studios prefer a Disc based media at the moment, and I like something there to look at after I've spent my money aswell. It's nice to have a collection to look at,no matter what your opinion is on this subject, anyone of us is greatly impressed when we go over a friends house and see their shelves stacked top to bottom with CD's/DVD's/Blu ray/games.

Ive got no problem buying the BR disk. The whole downloading thing can bring too many problems. A well-kept disk will never let you down.

Digital media still has a looooooooooooooong way to go. Yes, cd's are selling less and less but think about all the mp3 players now. Ipod's, zune's, cell phones, they all helped out and plus, every song in an album is not that good to be buying the whole album for. I think apple released a statement last year or so saying that single songs are being purchased more than whole albums. I'm one of those peoples. So people have have mp3 players to mix their music. Instead of going through stacks of cd's to listen to that one song. That is why cd sales are falling horribly. Have you seen those music cards at the stores to buy a album through a website which include a digital booklet and extra tracks? I think that will be the new medium for selling albums.
Now with movies, physical media is here to stay for a number of reasons. Have the movie on a disc whether blu ray or dvd will always be more convenient simply because it will look better on the tv or hdtv. If you download a movie, you have to worry about the video resolution, you screen resolution or whatever. Most digital movies are standard media anyway. Only a little amount of downloadable movies are HD. Yes having them on a HDD will give you lots of space in your room but you don't get the extra features, or the artwork (I for one do like the extras and artwork, and seeing my collection stacked up beautifully). Digital movies don't have any extras or artwork, THEY DONT HAVE THE SAME QUALITY PICTURE AND SOUND! They can easily be deleted whether virus or you pressed the delete button on accident. Back up? Sometimes people forget or mess it up some how, and internet connection. You know how fast of a connection you would need to download a HD movie, let alone a standard movie? Unless you want to leave it downloading overnight. On itunes, if you buy a movie and play it on a different computer, you have to authorize it to play, and i think you only get 5 authorizations. WTF? No, i like to play my disc without limitations. Also, as i mentioned about the cd's and mp3's, its different with movies. Yes you can play a movie on your ipod or zune or cell phone, but why the hell you want to watch a movie on a super small screen and standard instead of HD that you could get at home? With HDD you have limitations to how many movies or HD you can have. Regardless of how big your HDD is!!!! Plus you take the chance of having it be gone if your computer or DVR crashes or something. |

I'm sure there are numerous reasons why people didn't hop on the Blu-ray train.
Blu-ray movies are way too expensive, once they drop to the prices that DVDs are now they will double in sales. Not everyone has an HDTV. So there is no reason to buy a Blu-ray movie. As already stated...I would rather have a movie that takes up 700mb rather than a movie that takes up 1 spot on a DVD rack. And please...FIX YO SIG NIGGA

People are avoiding Blu-Ray like the plague. It's going to be like CDs and DVDs. Look what happened when they first came out. They were expensive as were the players. Don't even get me started on LaserDisc. But anyway. People are waiting for prices to drop.
