hi totally agree ps3 will have the advantage in about six months when more games are available. free view tv etc. if its choice of games though xbox wins at the moment . but that will change.

For F*** Sakes, Another console war thingy, although an interesting video. There was one guy who made a commit which I totally 100% true. If you want a console, get one that suit you! F*** other people that say its rubbish!

Anyway, I have to admit that the guy who made the video managed to get REAL information! And finally! Thank GOD! SOmeone has explained to me what those bloody Core system thingys are!!!

i guess u gt a fair point. this will be my last thread on this sort of thing. bt if he criticizes the ps3 agen i dont think i'll be the only one responding on this forum. jst about every1 is fed up with smithy.
This thread was only done to show how wrong smithy was. The vid was good!

I just watched the vid. As many of you know, I'm a fair and just man and I like to think that I don't exaggerate too much.

With that said, there are yet undiscovered species of aquatic life that closely resemble puddles of pointless slime that are more informed about the consoles than the creator of that video.

Instead, I shall now provide to you and accurate summary of the two consoles in all the areas he covered.

CPU:

PS3 - Cell

Indeed this is really the only part of the video he got right. Cell has 8 cores, 7 of which are used in the PS3 and 6 that are used for games. Each runs at 3.2GHz. However, each of these cores is not as good at playing games as a general purpose processor. In fact, when it comes to games, Cell sucks ass. However, the advantage it has is that those cores ARE good for graphics. Not as good as a dedicated GPU, but good enough that you can get games like ratchet and clank *fap fap fap* this early in it's life cycle.

Xbox 360 - Xenon

Xenon is a 3 core general purpose CPU with each core running at 3.2GHz. As a general purpose CPU it is much more suited to regular gaming activities such as physics and A.I. Though it does not boost the graphics card in the way that Cell does, it is certainly the better CPU for...well...CPU function.

Score 1 PS3 - 360 1

GPU:

PS3 - RSX

RSX isn't actually an RSX. It is in fact a GeForce 7800. I uses OpenGL 2. It's a bit poo tbh. It has access to 256MB of RAM. (In the video he included ram here but I'm going to do it as a separate section later)

360 - Xenos

Xenos is essentially an ATI Radeon X1800 Mk.2. It has some features found in DirectX 10 graphics cards, though it is not capable of using directx 10 itself. It has 10MB or RAM on the die which enables it to give x4 Anti-Aliasing without putting any extra strain on the GPU whatsoever. It has access to 512MB of RAM, should it need it, though some RAM should be left over for the processor.

Score 1 PS3 - 360 2

Looks:

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like the look of both consoles, but the power brick on the 360 and the finger marks and easily scratchable surface on the PS3 does suck.

Score 2 PS3 - 360 3

The Disks:

PS3 - Blu Ray

The pros and cons of BD can be argued back and forth. Here I state only fact. BD can hold up to 50GB of data and has a faster read speed than DVD though when you take into account the size difference and read speed differences between the 360 DVD and PS3 BD, they work out at a similar data transfer rate. With that said, it has yet to be proven that BD is necessary. Unless you cum buckets every time you hear uncompressed audio, then a DVD is fine for gaming right now, and probably for the rest of this generation. But I suppose I should give Sony a point for at least trying.

360 - DVD

If you don't know what this is then you need to stop living in a ****ing cave you faggot.

(here he mentions a game called IV. I think he means GTAIV but whatever he means, he's wrong about it being made smaller for DVD)

Features:

PS3:

7 Wireless controller, but I'd be amazed if more than a few games ever allowed more than 4 player (if any). That and having 7 friends all crowd round the same TV would be really shit.
Built in batteries. Win.
75 foot wireless range. Read: ****ing pointless wireless range. Who the **** is gonna get more than 15 feet away at the most extreme of times?
Shitty copied tilt sensor gimmick.
4/2 USB ports
****ing pointless card reader.
Free but fairly average online service.

360:
4 wireless controllers or 2 wired.
Shitty rechargeable batteries.
30 foot wireless range.
Rumble.
2 USB ports
Premium but pretty solid online service.

I got bored after this. A lot of the features stuff he put in was either wrong (like 360 only being capable of 720p) or pointless. The guy is clearly a fanboy.

Score 4 PS3 - 360 5

Games

Man the guy is such a fanboy. PS3 games are better? GTFO! He featured 3 Xbox games out of the hundreds on the console, and he specifically chose the shooters. What about Viva Pinata? Forza? Blue Dragon etc? 360 has better games now, and till at least summer 2008.

And Afrika? Excuse me if I don't start masturbating furiously at the thought of this game like some people.

Score 4 PS3 - 360 6

Controllers:

PS3 - Sixaxis

Oh yey. The same controller I've been using since the SNES except now I have shitty excuses for trigger buttons and a lame copy of the Wiimotes motion sensing. Most unoriginal pile of wank ever. Doesn't even have rumble.

360 - Er...the...360 controller?

Comfortable, light and probably the best controller I've ever used. The battery on the wireless one gets in my way but thats about it.

Score 4 PS3 - 360 7

RAM

PS3 - 2x256 dedicated

2x256MB RAM running at 650MHz with an effective transfer rate of 1.3GHz

360 - 1x 512 unified ram

1x512MB RAM running at 700MHz with an effective transfer rate of 1.4GHz. Unified ram is also better than dedicated.

Final Score 4 PS3 - 360 8
