Some interesting Xbox News

I have it on good authority that there is a decent possibility that MS are due to bring out a blu-ray add on for the xbox 360 - thus putting the final nail in the HD-DVD coffin.

I have also heard that there was a clause in the Paramount contract that meant they could change formats if Warner decided to to do the same - which they announced the other day.

I think we can safely say that Blu-Ray is most def on the up.

Yeah but look at it this way. More money in Sony's coffers. If it ever happens, which I highly doubt.

Tbh I don't see the point in a Blu-ray add on for 360 (I also don't see the point in the 360 full stop, but that's another story). It won't benefit games like it does in PS3 so it'll be solely for movie use. If it did happen I can't see the uptake being very good.

Well my mate is a 360 user and he was slating them the other day for potentially having to buy a HD DVD add on. As you say it will be for movies only. It appears the delay of the PS3 launch due to blu-ray problems is now not looking to bad!

What you want is an LG super multi blue drive that plays everything - however its shit and you cant access some of the extra features.

360 owners jus seem to be gettin pissed by the contant add ons and updates that do nothing but outdate what they have and cost them money, but seeing as the 360 is a year ahead of the ps3 who knows, maybe ps3 owners will meet the same fate, hope not tho

I wouldn't have thought so as the PS3 still has so much more to offer. Its processor is way beyond any PC proc and is only currently working to about quarter capacity. Only reason for that is that coders haven't got the ability to code to the full capability at the mo. That, coupled with blu-ray should be a major future proof reason to stick with PS3. I have to admit if i had dived in to 360 i'd be starting to get jealous with the multi taking ability of the PS3.

Sony is doing everything right by the ps3 in my eyes. Listening to the people, and actually giving them what they want. Put it this way, they are working harder than MS ever have done with the 360.

Tbh Sony really have to. The company as a whole is in quite a precarious position at the min. The Bravia's are up against stiff competition from the likes of Panasonic and Samsung, their hi-fi range is also not as desirable as it used to be and they're facing more competition than ever in the games industry. PS3 is central to Sony's future at present. It contains a Blu-ray player which Sony have invested heavily into and need to get good returns on and needless to say PS3 is still lagging behind the competition in hardware and software sales so they need to be seen listening to their much needed customers and hope that people will start seeing PS3 as more attractive prospect. Sony are no longer the world leaders in consumer electronics and unless they can manage to get PS3 moving their future as a whole looks pretty shaky so it's not a case of Sony caring for its customers, it's more a case of them having to.

Scoota you make some good points. I can tell you I also know that if blu-ray had failed to take off then Sony's games division would have gone tits up. My bro said they had staked their entire job lot on it. Luckily for them they got it right and it set to do well.

I have a samsung 50" plasma and its the nutts - Bravia's are good but seem expensive for what they are. Surely you can have the greatest TV ever but its only as good as the signal coming in. If you watch Dave the picture is usually crap regardless. Funny channel though. ;-)
