Plasma TV users CAREFULL on Motorsrtorm

Hi all, just a word of warning here, did the usual thing yesterday got my PS3 home hooked it into my Pioneer 43" Plasma TV and invited my mates round and we were playing Motorstorm till the early hours of today. When they went home i just flicked it onto sky to watch 10mins of the news and I had MOTORSTORM like a sun blind accross the top of the TV, for those familiar with the game its the bit in yellow with the skull in the middle you get when you are loading up a race, needless to say i was a bit concerned but what i did was put the tv onto an untuned (black and white snow) channel and left it overnight this i am told flushes all excess charge from the phosphers in a plasma tv and i seem to have got away with it as this morning seems ok but please users take heed !!!!!!!

Yea this burn-in effect has allow put me off plasmas, i know a lot of people with them who haven't had any probs though - i guess it varies a lot from brand to brand.

to be fair i was by accident running it on the wrong settings pioneer plasmas have a preset mode for games consoles (it lowers the contrast and brightness etc) and i forgot to put it into this mode i was using normal tv mode i think there fine as long as you treat them with care, loads loads better than asny lcd i know because i have both

well it seems my worse fears are confirmed on every PS3 game i have got they are leaving screen retention all over the place for us plasma tv users i have been on specialist tv forums and its the same in there no matter what make of plasma you have (mines pioneer) the PS3s dont like them you can really see it on F1 championship edition on the white screens when your loading or quitting a game etc.. last 2 nights now i have had to leave my tv on the snow channel to flush out screen retention (it was the rev counter / speedo / fastest and best lap) on gran turismo last night plasma users be very carefull with these PS3s limit your use if possible if not and you are using for multiple hours every couple of hours turn on to a snow channel for 10mins then go back if not you will be before you know it buying a new TV, you have been warned!!

I also love Gran Tursimo, so i went for the 32" LCD instead of the 40" plasma

If you are a hardcore gamer, buy an LCD!!!

plasma tv's are always slightly risky, but still good tv's, various companies are trying to re-design plasmas to reduce the burnt in effect that is their only realy curse, couldn't say how close they r to this tho, until then LCD's are the best buy option (sorry, i know that doesn't help much)

On the contrary, plasma screens provide better levels of black, vivid color, better refresh rates and it doesn't make your PS2 games look like shit. The more recent plasma TVs don't suffer from burn-in (or at least as severly) as old plasmas.
