DVD Movies
Hi,

Can i use my PS3 to save some DVD movies and have them played? is this possible? I have the 60GB PS3.

What format will it accept and how is the procedure?

You can play DVD movies from the DVD.
If you managed to get the film off the DVD uncompressed it would take up 4GB of space.
If you took it off and got it compressed, you would need it in mpeg4 format to play it on the PS3.

so meaning if i save my dvd movies as .mp4 into the hard drive, ps3 can decode it and play? if i use an external hard drive like a USB drive, and save my movies there, can ps3 read the movie from the external drive and play it?

In theory yes but you would need to take it off the disk on a PC (or a mac if your a fag), burn it as a data DVD then save it onto the PS3.
