HDMI question !!!!

iam getting an LCD soon so when i get it can i hook the av cables and the HDMI cables both at the same time, i ask this because obviously my current output is 480i and if i plug in HDMI alone it wont display because its on 480i!, so will it work or do i just plug in the HDMI and hold the reset button for the second beep ?,

not sure exactly what your asking.....but let me see if I can wade through this.

I use component cables the (five rca cables), cause my tv too old for HDMI, but my tv does 480i and 1080i.

What res is your new tv gunna be?

If your ps3 is set for 480i...that will need to be changed for the new tv to display whatever resolutions it will display.

Are you asking to use HDMI and AV cables???
silly....one or the other....HDMI if you want HD.

Yes what smithy said too...it all in the same setup...

yeah but the output is on 480i right so if i go and set it to say 1080p it wont display anything right because iam its connected with the av cables, or do i do that and turn off the PS3 and hook up the HDMI because it will be in 1080p

marz, the reason i asked about connecting both the av and HDMI at the same time is because that way way when when i change to an HD resoultion it will not go blank because the HDMI is connected, then i would simply turn off the PS3 and remove the av cables.

what about holding dowm the reset button for the second beep?

look...

:new tv, get HDMI cables and plug in, plug in original cables so both sets are connected to your tv, go into settings, change it to HDMI, take out the old cables so only the HDMI is left in your PS3 and your good to go.....:

i think thats how you should do it anyway.....

trust me...when you get it, you won't have any problems..

Just to be safe I think u should change the setting back to SD (standard).

Then new tv...just use HDMI...go to display settings and set to your tv specs, and cahnge cable type to HDMI in settings. Then you should be good to go....I didnt use my av cables when I switched them out for my composite cables.

Also you cant plug both cables at the same time into one tv...maybe i misunderstand ya...

My tv too old...no HDMI
Just component cables for me until I get new TV...I still get 1080i, but nuttin in 1080i, so it all get downscaled to 480i for me....suck.

I never heard that reset trick before....I dont think it will work, but I have no idea...it might, but i think you still have to manually set it up.
