PS3 AV Receiver Tv Solution Please!!!!

Hi All

Could do with a bit of advice if anyone would be kind enough to help. I own a Pioneer VSX-1016k AV receiver and what i have into it is sky HD (via HDMI + optical link) a Playstation 3 (via HDMI + optical link) and a pioneer seperate CD player in via phono leads, I have a Kef2005.2 surround system which also doubles up as my stereo for my music, the amp has HDMI out up to my Pioneer plasma tv. My problem is I can only use one source at any one time for example it would be nice to play my PS3 but listen to music at the same time but obviously i cant do that as it requires 2 sources at the same time not bothered about having the tv on and music at the same time but with the PS3 that would be good. My tv has component in and i think there is a lead on the market for PS3 that is HDMI to component so i suppose could go directly into the tv with that and bypass the amp but would still like the option to have the PS3 sound through my 5.1 when i want to is there anyway this could be done?? sorry this is a bit lengthy but would appreciate anyones help.

Buy a better receiver that manages inputs better and allows you to select your sound source on the fly.

or get some type of audio switch/converter board

i used the normal lead that came with the ps3 as an audio lead. i have a hdmi cable for picture and used the red and white from the standad cable that came with the ps3 and pluged that into my surround aux point. then you just set that up on the ps3 audio settings. ok so its not optical but its good enough!

well slick rick that comment was really not slick at all was it in fact about as much use as a chocolate fire guard have you ever heard the saying "if one has nothing positive to say sometimes its best to say nothing at all"

How was it useless if you ask an obvious question and I give you the obvious solution....?

You sir are rude.

So allow me be rude back. If you were smart you wouldn't have to ask a dumb question like this. Furthermore, if you hadn't asked a dumb question I wouldn't have had to post a simple answer to your dumb question. So in summary my useless post could have been avoided if you didn't ask such a dumb question.

RTFM! for your receiver/PS3
