does 1080p make such a diffrence?

. Yes im another one of those peeps about falk out for a hd tv.
I just wanted to ask people what they thought of hd's running at 1080p compared to standard ones. Do they make a massive diffrence to ther overall look of a game?

it depends on the size of the screen. if ur lookin for 32" and below u wont notice it too much where as if ur go 32"+ u will notice the difference

well thats the one i have been looking at waterman. I suppose what i would really like to see is a samsung32" hd ready with a samsung32" 1080i running side by side the same game to see what the diffrence is. and if its worth the extra £200-£300.
Cheers waterman.

I have a 32 bravia HD, its great for gaming and all but people do exaggerate saying how brilliant it is, and its a huge huge improvement over SD but its not a huge difference trust me.

I don't understand what you mean buy looking at a comparison between HD ready and 1080i. 1080i is HD ready even 1080p is HD ready. And btw if your thinking 1080i is superior to 720p that's incorrect.

i love the one i got its well worth the money, the sound is not that great so it might be worth trying to get a surround sound system thrown in aswell. i did.

i have also bought a 27 inch samsung lcd hd tele for the bedroom and thats good aswell!!!

I will try to help...
1080i and 720p / 1080p are both High Definition display formats for HDTVs. 1080i and 720p / 1080p signals contain the same information. Both 1080i 1080p represent a 1920x1080 pixel resolution. 720p is 1280x720 pixel resolution.
The 'i' is for interlaced and 'p' for progressive

Basically, 1080i is like getting 1080 lines at 30 fps, while 720p and 1080p is getting 720 / 1080 lines at 60 fps. Now its a little more complicated than that, but thats the best simplified way.

There are some negative aspects to interlacing. Due to the methodology of interlacing frames, visual quality can suffer, especially under high motion scenes. There will be a greater blurring effect. In a relatively still image though, 1080i will be noticeably sharper.

That is as much as i understand,
However it depends on the Blu ray dvd/game, if the game u are playing is only at 720p it wont make a difference if you use a 720p / 1080i / 1080p as it wont upscale it. And if the Blu ray dvd is recorded at 30fps (24fps pal) it wont make a difference if you use 1080i or 1080p as you are not using 60fps, But i dont know what standard the blu ray games and dvds use.

Yea, i just noticed that...
but it still depends on how the game is coded,
u need a game which uses a 60fps to get a difference between 1080i and 1080p, otherwise they r the same
