LCD-Plasma

little recommendation since this is my specialty and job.

I have only LCD's in my house this is because of a few things

1: it uses at least 45% less power than a plasma (with lcd set full pelt)
2: it is cheaper to buy in the first place.
3: It wont burn as easy as a plasma does
4: Its picture is far sharper and precice that a plasma
5: Very lightweight compared to a plasma so cheaper bracket (my shoulder could tell you some storys of plasmas iv had to lift)
6: Im not certain about LCD runnings hours because we have not installed one for long enough, but now that we are installing lcd's for energy reasons in companys i will have moer accurate than my prediciton which would be 30,000 hours - 40,000 hours. This will last you untill you want the next gen screen in about 10 years unless u play ur playstaiton far too much :P
7: LCD displays amazing whites but lets you down on the black unless you get the top of the range LCD

Just a couple of advantages for plasma

1: colour very powerful and warm feeling to it
2: Usaly developed for office use so has plenty of inputs
3: Dosnt have a half life as bad a lcd does. by this i mean the backlight fades after time. Like the diffrence between a energy saving bulb and a normal bulb, the energy saving dims far quicker.

Despite this brightness reduction in the LCD you will not notice it unless u put them side by side.

4: Plasma on average last 50,000 running hours for domestic use thats far more than you need
5: Plasma gives you Jet Blacks with decent sets, but lets you down on your whites same as CRT, i woudlnt even call it white its kinda grey

After all this if i were to recommend models they would be

LCD - Samsung Or Panasonic when panasonic are readily availble
PLasma - Panasonic Best Picture Samsung Best Price

I know a few people will say pioneer is the best for domestic use but compaired to its price tag i challange you to tell the diffrence in picture between a pioneer and a panasonic. Its not worth the price get a nice 60 inch panasonic and you will be laughing

I would get personaly LCD - Samsung Plasma - Panasonic

Go with the LCD. It will last longer, and it does not have a burn in period whereas, the plasma does...
