Problem Streaming to the PS3

My setup:-

PS3 hooked up to a full HD 1080p tv, sound hooked up to a Yamaha surround sound amp by optical cable.
PS3 connected to a gigabit router with cable.

A PC with dual core 2.4 cpu, 3 gig's ram and 1tb hard drive connected to router with cable and is used as a server running Tversity, simplecenter (which is a crap load of use) and PS3 media server v1.02.1

The whole network is gigabit.

First problem:

When I watch any video on the PS3 it plays perfectly ether standard AVI or 720p MKV files and even 1080p MKV files. 5.1 surround sound is also perfect.
When I play a DVD VOB file it also plays perfectly.

This is the case when I use ether PS3 media server or Tversity.

But if I try and watch a ripped blu ray disk (by selecting the m2ts file) it plays well for the first few mins but then it starts to stutter.

When I look on the PC used as the server both the CPU and the ram are not maxed out and the network bandwidth is hardly used.

It appears to be a buffer problem but it seems nothing is using the ram so it seems that the server programs need to be configured to use more ram, but I cant find where to do that.

Second problem:

I have quite a few DTS audio cd's that are WAV files. Any thing else will play from the streaming PC, even WAV files that are not DTS. It seems like the streaming programs are not passing through the DTS signal to the PS3 or the serving programs are not even recognising that the files are encoded as DTS.

The files play fine on the PC when loaded into media player, which recognises the DTS signal and decodes it correctly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Um all i can think of is to try to limit the bandwidth when using ps3 media server. try to put it at a 50mbps limit

I dont think the problem is with bandwidth as the PS3 isnt using that much. The bandwidth used isnt reaching 50mbps.

I think the problem might be on the encoding side, but on the PS3media server main screen there is a meter for transcoding usage which doesnt move, which leads me to think that it isnt transcoding right.

I'm trying to setup freenas but it doesnt like the pc I'm using.

Maybe the latest 1.09 beta version of Ps3 Media Server is worth trying. There has been a lot of fixes and improvements and DTS apparently works in this beta.

I've tried 1.09 beta with the same result. But on the PS3MS forum they suggest pausing the video for a few seconds to fill up the buffer.

This is only a problem with ripped blu-ray disks playing the M2TS files, any other form of 1080p works fine.

I have a problem with sound which is not related.

In the new 1.09 beta it days DTS works, but I think this is related to video only as I have some DTS audio stuff which still doesnt play.

The PS3 will play the DTS audio WAV files if they are burned onto cd's, but not through any streaming server program I've tried.

I think it has something to do with the difference between 48khz and 44.1khz sound.
