Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has today revealed some gorgeous character art for Zatanna Zatara to herald her appearance in the forthcoming DC Universe Online game, joining the likes of Mr Freeze, Bizzaro, the Green Lantern, Doomsday, and the Flash. Here’s SOE’s description of the lovely Zatanna:

Zatanna Zatara is one of the world’s most powerful magic users, born of a long line of magicians who use magic against the dark forces of evil. She inherited her ability to cast spells from her magician father and mysterious mother, the mystical Sindella. She is a loyal and long-time member of the Justice League of America, and often works alongside the most powerful magic users on Earth, including Doctor Fate, Madame Xanadu, and Captain Marvel.

Zatanna casts spells by speaking her magic incantations backwards, meaning that it only takes a simple gag to stop her from using her magic, although getting close enough to actually place a gag on her is another matter entirely! Her powers range from summoning shackles to healing others, as well as teleportation. Zatanna doesn’t want to overdo it with the magic though, so she only casts defensive and non-lethal spells.
