Sega has today released a teaser trailer for its forthcoming console game, Thor: The Video Game, as well as some concept art. The game is an epic, third-person adventure, scheduled for release in summer 2011. Thor: The Video Game will delve deep into the heroic tales of the Thor universe, with Eisner Award-winning writer and lead Thor comic book author Matt Fraction lending his authentic voice to the game as story consultant, with the aim of elevating the story behind the comic and movie universe throughout the video game.

In the game, players will take on various ancient enemies and beasts from the many worlds of Norse mythology, by using different battle strategies and elemental powers. Wielding the sacred Mjolnir, Thor’s legendary hammer, will enable players to command the powers of the storm: wind, thunder and lightning. Players can add to their abilities and acquire new attacks, powers and upgrades by earning Valor in combat throughout the game.

Although taking its inspiration directly from the mythology of the Marvel comics, Thor: The Video Game will be launched at the same time as the forthcoming Thor film adaptation from Marvel Studios.
