True Crime Announced for PS3

True Crime 1

Fans of the two previous True Crime games –   True Crime: Streets of LA and True Crime: New York City will be excited to hear that the third installment in the series, simply titled True Crime, will be coming to the PS3 in 2010. Hong Kong is the setting for the new game, which follows the adventures of undercover detective Wei Shen as he infiltrates one of Hong Kong’s Triad gangs. The gameplay and overall look of the open-world game is inspired by classic Hollywood and Asian action movies, with developer United Front Games going for that whole Hong Kong action movie vibe.

As players follow Wei Shen on his journey through the Triad underworld, they will experience martial arts combat, intense gun battles, free-running chases and fast-paced driving sequences.

“We’ve been waiting for the right story and opportunity to bring True Crime to a new generation of gamers in 2010,” said Maria Stipp, EVP and GM of Owned Properties, Activision Publishing. “United Front Games has the vision to bring this new undercover game experience to life, where fans will play out their own epic Hong Kong action thriller!”

“We want players to feel like an undercover cop experiencing the moral dilemmas and life and death situations of the HK underworld,” added Stephen van der Mescht, executive producer, United Front Games.

I really enjoyed True Crime: Streets of LA on PS2 so I can’t wait to see the series make the move up to PS3, especially as the Hong Kong backdrop looks amazing in the trailer! Unfortunately we’ll have to wait until Fall 2010 for the game to hit the PS3, but in the meantime you can check out the teaser trailer that was unveiled on 12th December at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards show.
