SCEE today announced a list of top blockbuster films that will be available to download on the PlayStation® Network Video Delivery Service before Christmas in certain European countries. Here are just some of the hit movies that will soon be available: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Hannah Montana: The Movie, Bruno, Angels & Demons, Casino Royale, Crank 2: High Voltage and The Hills Have Eyes.

The Video Delivery System will enable you to download the movie of your choice to your PlayStation®3 and PSP™ starting this November in France, Germany, Spain and the UK, followed by other markets in 2010. It’s been available in North America since the summer.

SCEA and Netflix have announced that they will be making thousands of movies and TV programmes from Netflix available for instant streaming to your TV via the PlayStation®3. Netflix says that they will start streaming content in November, and that PS3-owning Netflix members in the United States will be able to use the service at no additional cost. PS3 owners who are not currently Netflix members can pay $8.99 per month to use the service and stream unlimited TV shows and movies to their computer and TV via the PS3 and other Netflix-ready devices, and can also get unlimited DVDs sent to their homes.

Netflix members must insert a free, instant-streaming Blu-ray disc into their PS3 in order to activate the Netflix user interface on the console.

“The PlayStation 3 system has always been about more than just gaming, and it will soon be the only platform in the industry to offer consumers such a variety of convenient options for enjoying movies and TV shows,” said Jack Tretton, president and CEO, SCEA. “Whether you want to watch content on Blu-ray disc and DVD, download it from the PlayStation Network’s video delivery service, or stream videos instantly from Netflix, the PS2 system is the only solution that offers it all.”
