ps3 update

im trying to update my ps3 from the 1.34 (original update) to 1.54 the latest one. I downloaded the update from sony's website. I then transfered it to sd memory card then my ps3. When i start the system update on ps3 it says

"no system update application data was found"

I was wondering what i should do now. other than installing the update through my internet. It is quite slow that way.

i think, if i am correct, that you have to use a USB storage device.

Your router should have security options. WEP or WPA encryption and limit your connects to enabled MAC addresses.

Use your router's configuration page by going into your computer internet browser and type in your router's IP address (ie. 192.168.0.1), change your defualt SSID (The wireless network name... ie: linksys), hide the SSID broadcast beacon and enable MAC address filtering if you like, but they are somewhat useless, since both approaches can easily be broken.

Set the security to WPA-PSK (sometimes it is called WPA personal), if you have the option to choose the encryption method, then select AES elliptical curve instead of TKIP, but if not, don't worry about. Also, be sure to assign a password to both your router configuration page and your WPA authentication. Try to avoid WEP if you can, since any WEP encryption can be easily broken within seconds... Always remember, a wired connection is many times better than wireless.

Depends on your router, you maybe able to disable the radio or antenna through the configuration page. Some of the older WiFi routers do not have this option, and if your router falls under this category, then there are a few options:

1. The simplist solution, buy a wired router and say the hell with wireless.

2. The not as simple solution, unscrew your antennas, change your SSID, block SSID beacon, enable the highest WPA-PSK encryption available, set a passphrase as your pre-shared key (password), and include a few spaces and a unicode character in there (ie. "Eat my shorts ç"). WPA based authentication can be very strong if the password meets the length and complexity, and that is going to protect you from the H4x0rz.

3. The hard solution, unscrew your router and take the wireless card out of it.
