this discussion is aimed at those who have got a ps3, imported or whatever.

i never used to care which was better, but lately, since ps3 launch is getting close, i've been getting a lot of 'you getting a ps3? fool...', 'ps3 is shit, get the 360'......

im getting real annoyed with these stupid comments, normally i would question why they say that that the ps3 is crap and i would get the most rediculous reasons...

"its sony" (i entirely trust sony, past PSs did good and sony are doing well in notebook computers, and general electronics...)
"because americans on xbox live says its crap" (that reason is invalid, A because its on xbox live and B because it were the americans, haha no offence)
"*stupid rumours*"(like how the ps3 games can only get registered to one PS3 and has to be played on that one)
"just because..."(i have gotten this response so many times that i've labelled it 'xbox logic' lol)

my reason for getting the ps3 instead of the 360 is that im a big final fantasy fan and i really doubt they'll switch to the 360...

so those of you who have one, tell me, which is it?
PS3? 360? or are they very similar....

i really do hope that the ps3 does good, else i'll get so much stick from my mates who all own 360s....

i played gears of war on the 360 and i thought it was truly a great game, just hoping resistence could match it

*EDIT* yeah i know this is kinda dumb asking you guys to give me an unbiased comment on this topic, but you are the only ones i can speak to who owns a ps3

ok friends heres the truth. the ps3 has been out for 5 monthes now and everyone is calling it a loser but if u remember the ps2 was also called a loser compared to the competition. past facts aside its really hard to decide right now which of the high end gaming machines (ps3, 360) to get as of today. Honestly it is ur play style, like i love the ps3 and the ps brand and their games so thats why i bought a ps3 because sure maybe we are losing some exclusives but were still getting the gmae sno matter what and in time we will get more exclusives. some people rag on about the online but i mean i dont think its that bad, (40 player resistance is such a gaming rush). But there are some downsides to buying a ps3 right now. For really big AAA titles u will be waiting a bit and for the best online features (like the new feature home) ur also waiting, so if u like wiating for greatness u know what to buy. That being said the 360 has some sweet games as of right now. It has a fully featured online, (the best of any console right now) but u do pay for it so take that into consideration, lots of different types of games and right now lots of developer support. In the immediate future there arnt many great games but halo 3 will surly make a few xbox lovers happy. Im guessing u have ruled out the wii as a buying choice and i am the same way, because i feel innovation and gameplay dont have to change the way u play games and i love the controllers of the powerhouse consoles. Honestly u should decide what games u like (Ratchet and clank, metal gear solid, final fantasy etc.) or (halo 3, mass effect, fable 2 etc)On on the note of resistance vs gears u shouldnt believe some of the fanboy crap floating around. the games play completly different and they are both very sweet. gears has better graphics but id say resistance has the greater replay value and it has a lot of features, like a lot. In the end i picked ps3 becuase i love playstation and the games have been sweet in the past, but microsoft will have great games 2. Honestly both machines will have sweet software, so i guess just pick one from ur past choices.

im not going to right a massive paragraph but i will say this, ps3 has so much more capabilities then the 360 and it will benefit the consumer in the end. also derek you said that final fantasy wont go to the 360...im not sure about that seeing as how many major playstation titles are already heading to xbox such as grand theft auto and just recently accounced devil may cry so will see about that

Honestly right now I would go with the XBOX 360 I am also very NERVOUS about the PS3's exclusives. The 360 also already has over 100 games that I would classify at least as 9.0 or better. Now, as far as resistance goes I would say it matters if you plan on playing online. Resistance has a slightly better single player story and replay value. But, since so far the PS3 online sucks since there is no mic to play and talk to people online its not like you can have teamwork unlike the 360 that on gears you can have amazing teamwork and make cool strategies talking to fellow gamers. To me playing an online game without a mic is basically playing with bots so I give the nod easily to the 360.

Some Final Fantasy games sorry I don't know there names I don't like them

and thats all and unfortunetly I think all games on both systems are better on xbox since the online is automatically better.

But no one knows if the PS3 has any games coming out that will be better in the future. So either could turn out better.

ok, here are the best thing each have to offer in my opinion

360 - superb online play (microsoft rule that field and may well do forever) great games (developers are still too scared to commit to ps), more support

ps3 - great graphics with potential of outstanding graphics in future (once developers learn how to harness the ps3's power), multimedia hub (sony are multimedia giants so the ps3 has it all thrown in, and that potential will only grow bigger), fantastic games (exclusives are bad now, but once it finds its feet ps3 will have developers crawling back), lifespan (such power built to last, when 360 owners are upgrading ps3 owners can sit back and enjoy a consol that offers the same power as anythin to be released after the 360 - possibly)

fan boys and critics alike are all gunning for ps3 right now, just what happened with the ps2 and look how that turned out, also most of the critics have never actually played a ps3 yet so have no idea wot to say, once ps3 has found its feet and becomes established i think we will see huge changes for the better.

Final opinion, both are great systems and have alot to offer, you just have to consider wot you want from a system, how much u wanna pay and wot games are right for you.

well i dont know for sure about final fantasy moving to 360, but my theory is that final fantasy has allways been big on huge complex storylines. havn't played many other RPGs but i'd say its too long for dual layer DVDs to handle. with the BR final fantasy will have the potential of making the game even longer and when this happens, it will have to be split over a few disks to be able to be played on a 360.

same goes for GTA, as we go through each one, theres more and more to do. these games will also grow larger with BR.

Not sure that Blu-Ray can be used to say that games like RPG's wont work on other systems! Look at PC's? They are standard DVD's and they house some of the biggest RPG's ever, Its all down to the programing and the use of the HDD. Oblivion isnt small and that runs sweet on 360! Also keeps having more and more mission's, places and features added, so that game alone is nothing like what it was on its release. Exclusives will be decided on one simple factor.......cost and profit to the developers, its business. Whatever console is the biggest and best selling will see more exclusives than the others, its always been the same way. I have been a gamer for 25yrs (not as long as some on this forum I know, but...) and thats just been the way of things, money talks. Things change so much and so quickly, if Sony release the 20gig unit for say...£350 or less in Europe, I bet it will shift like hot cake's (as they say, lol). I still think Sony should have given everyone the option of size, but greed is a powerful thing, see....down to cash again! lol. The only constant is change, never a truer string of words muttered IMO. I cant wait for this Friday, With already owning a 360 and Wii, this will make my games room really sweet! MWAHAHAHAHAHA

Last night, I connected my 360 and my PS3 on the same TV for the first time. I played Rainbow six, Crackdown and Gears on the 360, then Oblivion on the PS3. It is not a direct comparasion... but generally speaking, even running on 720p, Oblivion on the PS3 looks quite a bit sharper and more colorful than any of these 1080i games I played for the 360. A difference can also be seen on the main menu of each system, compared to the PS3 XMB, the 360's interface looks somewhat washed out, the colors are not as intense and vibrant, and the texture is not nearly as sharp. I believe most of these differences can also be attributed to the PS3's HDMI connection VS. the 360's component connection...

the simple fact is that the ps3 is a hell of a lot more powerful with potemtial capabilities that the 360 will never reach and will force ms into releasing a new system in a few years. By that time ps3 will hopefully have returned to its giant status and ps3 owners like myself will be offered a great deal more to earn our moneys worth

Remember when Xbox was going to be so powerful, it was going to blow the PS2 out of the water? Yeah...

Even DC was putting up a good fight, but too bad SEGA had to abandon it.

point taken charlie, sheer power isn't enough, so wot woz it that made ps2 stand above all other and does sony have the ability to do the same with ps3? i think it does but the marketing really needs to be given a boost, its too early to tell yet just how this will develop

end of the day all that matters to me is that sony improve their services and secure some top grade exclusive games, the war of the systems means nothing to me, both r strong systems made by strong companies, may the best one win

i am a big sony fan but i aint biased gears of war is a gr8 game i enjoy it alot, personally i think ps3 is better because it has that drive to it, but i think the war is already over for sony if they wanna win they gtta splash out cash and make tht console cheaper
