Does anyone know much about the Japanese PS3 and its 'workability' in Australia? For example, I've been told it won't play our Aussie BLUERAY movies. But apparently all games from around the world will work on it coz of no region coding for games? Is that true? And what about online capabilities? I have an Aussie PSP and if I buy a US game for it, it doesn't work on-line. Will the PS3 do the same thing? Eg, coz it's a jap console, will I not be able to play aussie games online on it?

All games should work, but apparently there's a problem with people trying to run PAL games on their NSTC PS3s. The problem should be resolved by connecting to a HDTV. As for online, it should work since it's a global service.

That's odd, which game did you get? Online should work anywhere you can connect to the internet.

I had a US version of LIberty City Stories and it wouldn't go on multiplayer online. The guy at the shop said that all US games running on our aussie PSP's, wouldn't be able to go online. Have no idea why! But sure enough, it didn't work! I'd hate for this to be the case with the PS3 coz i can get a jap console about $300 AUD cheaper than our pal one. So i'm considering!

That's because LCS doesn't have online multiplayer. You need to get an actual online game like Field Commander or MPO. I think one of the SOCOM games has a glitch that makes it unplayable on the JP PSP because of the X and O button switch.
