It's not really a gimmick, but the PS3 isn't really going to find the cure to cancer either. F@H allows researchers to understand the process of protein folding because diseases such as Alzheimer's or certain types of cancer is a result of protein misfolding.

i was just wondering, i read somewhere that this folding@home software uses up unused cpu power to do this protein thing. well my question is, can i have this program running while playing games?

I don't think that they say the whole truth about CPU power.

No, I don't think it's possible to play games whilst folding.

I think the term 'unused' means when the PS3 is not being used for anything else at all, in other words, when it's idle.

ive just got a ps3 i downloaded update from pc to usb it works fine.i have aproblem i wondered if anyone could help i am olay a ps2 game pro evo 6 there is an update for it does anyone now how to get and install this thanks
