As you all already know MS have unveiled their 'new' 360 console, the 360 Elite.

The new version comes with the larger hard drive, a black wireless controller and HDMI cables…the latter being a sore point for PS3 owners. All of this for $479 USD (roughly £250 GBP).

Do you think this new console makeover could topple the Playstation 3's success so far?

I am not going to vote, because...I don't know.

Although the Elite features a 120GB HDD, it does not even include a HD-DVD player.

I know, that would push the price up. 360 owners will still have a choice whether they want to buy the add on or not.

I don't think it will topple the PS3 though. I mean, it's only just been launched here in the UK etc. 165,000 units sold in first 3 days.

Many people already have 360's, and I dont think they will see the need to buy another console which is exactly the same [well, with the addition of a HDD that is 6x bigger than premium].

no..just because it has somthing the PS3 has allready and has copyied the PS3 colour, lol......they can't fool me. It's still the same console on the inside and the PS3's power is greater than the 360's...................

i think it could cause a major headache for sony as it gives you more than a ps3 for a less money. the internal specs of ps3 are very similar; where one excells, the other lacks. microsoft have been clever in not outright supporting one hd format as they have said a br addon will never be ruled out and as the format war is far from over, this is a very smart move.

It wouldn't be such a bad thing if MS had the foresight to include a HD DVD drive but no, instead all you get is a bigger hard drive and HDMI ports for a lot more money. Seems a waste to me. I looked on forums and it seems to have upset a lot of 360 owners and MS fans.

Listen if you'd just bought the fastest most powerful car in the world (lets say for the sake of example, a Ferrari) and your next door neighbour had a Ford Probe, would you be jealous if they pulled up one day with a new spray job, spoiler & go faster stripes? Thought Not!

Don't sweat it, XB fans are always gonna be fixed in their defence of the console but the truth is it doesn't stand up to modern technology (i.e. PS3)

sorry but that is serious fanboyism. how anyone can claim that the 360 is significantly worse than the ps3 is beyond me and just goes to show that you have never even played on a 360 for a significant length of time. fyi, 360 not only handles ram usage better than ps3, it also has a more powerful graphics processor, handles cpu processing power better and imo has a better controller, not just because it sits in my hands more comfortably but because it also works with my pc allowing me to play emulated retro games on my pc with ease.

i didn't slag of any consoles... i stated the ways in which the 360 is better than the ps3 but never actually slagged of either, nor did i state the ways in which the ps3 is better than the 360... would you like me to?

I think it's quite the opposite. 360 is on top in the US and it's really up to PS3 to try to topple it. Microsoft has now set the bar higher.

Tv Input:RWY HDMI $30
Internet: WF-FI OFB Need a router"most people have one but i'll add cost any ways" $60
HDMP:Blue-ray Unless they make a HDDVD player there are none
Head Set: Sony dosnt make one yet but with the blue tooth card i can use jsut about any one i want using newegg again i found a few from $25-$170 but i'll jsut go with the $60 dollor one to be fare $60
Cooling:does great by its self

So lets see $ony only cost me 600+100+60+60+30=$850

you could be spending over $950 buck for one battery pack and one year of XBL

ok thats done with i realy dont think the $850 vs $950 is all that bad realy cost wise there aobtu the same yes PS3 pays more for Blue-ray but batterys adn pay to play come on in the long run i dont see cost being a iusse at all its come down to games games games games games.
and i dont see the elite hurting the ps3 i think it was a under handed move buy microsoft to jsut make more money and try and keep up

Really, you don't need HD-DVD player since it's a waste of money so you can take that $200 off. You're better off spending $100 on another 120 GB hard drive instead since downloading movies is really where it's at. 50 GB is not enough, 120 is okay, but you're still stretching it as well. My 250 GB hard drive is nearly full of movies, TV shows and music so you really can fill it up.

Even without an HD-DVD drive it is still capable of 1080p so it is a true HD machine. With an HD-DVD drive it is more of an HD machine that PS3 as blu-ray doesn't support 720p...an HD STANDARD!

Each machine appeals to different people who can only afford one, and both machines appeal to hardcore gamers like myself who simply love to game, not matter what system it is on. Sure I have my preferences ( I <3 PC) but I'm happy gaming on anything from a NES to a PS3.
