PSone games from PS Store are playable on the PS3. PSone save data can be used for the PSP. Vibration is back for PSone and PS2 games! Too bad I traded in God of War already.

Yup,
Just downloading it now. Looks like it will only take a few minutes.
PSOne games in the store sounds great. Will let ya know in 10 minutes or so.

Not sure why you guys had such a delay during download, it completed here within a couple of minutes. Standard 8MB Virgin Broadband.
The main changes are the downloading and playback of PSone games as many people have already stated. But also a lot of people are noticing PS2 games running better since the update, and some previous games which weren't working (e.g. GT4) now working! So it's all good.

Firmware version 1.70 is now available for download on your PS3 you can download it directly from you Internet connected PS3 or onto a computer to put on disk and install from this site (as it is made available). So what does this upgrade of firmware do? Well it doesn’t let you change the background colour but the main features are as follows
You can now download PlayStation® format software from PLAYSTATION®Store, and play it on the PS3™ system. (PS3 ver1.70 and PSP 3.40)
You can now use saved data for PlayStation® format software both on the PS3™ and PSP™ system. (PS3 1.70 and PSP 3.40)
You can now use the vibration function of accessories that are for use with PlayStation®2 format software. (PS3 1.70 only)
DOWNLOAD OF PLAYSTATION® FORMAT SOFTWARE
• As playable on PSP™, PlayStation® format software which can be purchase and downloaded from PLAYSTATION®Store becomes playable also on PS3™. Just like PS3™ format software, download and installation are required after purchasing it.
Playable platform
• Software downloaded and played on PSP™ earlier than v 3.30 should be exchangeable by downloading it again from the “Download List” of the PLAYSTATION® store.
• Software appears on [Game] of PS3™ when download and installation have been done.
• If the software can be copied to PSP™, “copy” appears in the option menu of the software. You can copy it to PSP™ via USB connection
SAVE DATA
• PS3™ [Game] > [Memory Card Utility]Save data can be copied from(to) PS3™ to(from) PSP™ via USB connection With this function, you can continue playing same game at home (PS3™) and outside (PSP™).
• The unit of this function is save data (not “virtual memory card”).
• Save data created by PSP™ earlier than v3.30 has to be transferred into new format for continuous use on PSP™ later than v3.40 Transfer is guided at the time of starting the software.
• Save data will not appear on [Memory Card Utility] of PS3™ until it’s transferred into new format
• Save data created by PSP™ v3.40 cannot be used on PSP™ earlier than v3.30.
LICENSE MANAGEMENT
• From v3.40, information of the license can be viewed from the [Information] of the software. ([License Management] under [Game] has been deleted.)
VIBRATION FUNCTION
• Vibration function of USB accessories that are for use with PlayStation®2 format software has become available.

Dammit Gooner. I Reckon the psone games are only available, if at all, to the states.
Cant see them on here anywhere.
Off topic: How is it going gooner, the reds were shite in the first half yesterday mate. Need to improve if we are going to get past theose blues.

With Regard to PSOne games, I've heard rumours that they can still only be downloaded via PSP at the moment, even after this fix. Unfortunately I don't own a PSP and would have to wait until my little brother visited to test it. I'm pretty sure they're just not available to download yet otherwise they would appear on the playstation store.
Wiggo - It's going well mate. We're back to winning ways too. Sorry but you guys have no chance of 2nd position now, the race is between us for 3rd and that's about it. In truth neither of us deserve any more from the league this season. That said, Good luck for the Champions League though - hope you trounce them
