is the safest way i know for buying anything online.... but you have to be careful about seller´s review before you make a transaction..... if a seller has bellow 50% success in his profile then the worst thing you can do is to trust him

Yep I got mine from there and it went perfectly. I also got the original receipt so that I could return it to the shop if I had any problems.

I've used ebay for years and bought some fairly high priced items.

If you're buying 'used' make sure you read the listing thoroughly and be sure to have a look through the sellers feedback.

Just use a bit of common sense and read the text carefully you'll be fine

Another thing to look for is the paypal shield of safety (little blue/grey shield with a P on it) this means if anything happens Paypal should give you your money back, if it doesnt they only give you back a certain amount, I got ripped with a 360 but I found the guys home number and address and he soon payed me back

I don't know... I was thinking about buying mine off of Ebay, but I'm still unsure. There's buy it now auctions for the 60GB at the price of the 20GB so I don't know. I think I'm just going to make an official transaction with Best Buy once I get the money.

not too safe

I bought my PS3 on eBay and the guy turned out to be a scammer.

He listed a Japanese PS3 shipping from London but then sent me an as jet undetermined system from Taiwan and FedEx charged me an additional £80 import duties. I called them about this and they insist that even though the item is marked as a gift (but valued more than £36) and listed as "bill duties to shipper" the duties still fell on me. It was only after I paid (after they threatened to charge me an additional £80 for looking into wether or not I had to pay the first £80) that my wife saw on their terms and conditions that I could have refused to pay and then the shipper would have had to pay it.

When I bought it, eBay listed the price after conversion as £460, but when PayPal put it through it went through as £470... Then FedEx charged me an additional £80. FedEx delivered the package to my landlord and accepted a signature that was not my mine but still insisted that because they got a signature the shipment was now complete and if they have to return it, i would have to pay them shipping charges again.

i contacted PayPal with a buyer dispute because the item was shipped from an address different than listed and not what was advertised. They said they would look into it and refund the payment but only after the seller got the item back so I had to pay $60 to FedEx to return the item I had to pay £80 tax on before Paypal would refund me only my £480. Later on they contacted me and said that this does not qualify under their policies as a breach. They guy sold me a jap system but sent me a different system. he listed the item as local and then I had to pay an addition £80 because he lied and PayPal said he was not in breach of anything.

Both PayPal and eBay say the same thing: Read our terms and conditions. We are only a venue for people to met. It is up to the parties to be honest with each other and if they find that the other is not, then it is up to them to sort it out themselves. eBay is in no way responsidble for any wrong doings in any way. Have a nice day.

To top it all off this guy was even smart enough to outfox eBay with their feedback. The day after i threatened to leave him back feedback I got en email from eBay saying that the user's account had been fraudulently used and thus the transaction has been removed from my ebay so I couldn;t leave him feedback. The same day I contacted PayPal about it and contacted the seller about it. Using the PayPal reply system and leaving tangible proof thereof, he said and I quote: "I don't know why eBay said that. It was definately me who listed the item"

Still PayPal didn't want to help me get a refund even if I did pay to send it back and carry the loss of the import duties and eBay still says they are only a venue and it is up to us to play nice...

I ended up paying £560 for my system and I still have no idea what model it is....

That happent if you do not look the sellers profile. The seller profile in ebay is a great advantage for buyers cause tells you if that buyer is trustful or not, for exaple if a seller have 5 possitive feedback and three negative you must look why they give him negative and how the seller act in that negative feedback. From there and on is up to you if you trust him or not.

Obviously he didn't read the post carefully enough... he he

This partucular guy was able to outfox eBay so that no negative feedback could be keft. Trust me. I tried!!!! Instead all I could see was his 200 100% positive feedback. eBay is just too risky to buy expensive stuff. Up to £50 I would risk.

More than that in a single transaction...

5 point Step by step guide how to make a fortune on eBay:
1. Advertise 50 PS3 consoles for £1 with no reserve
2. Wait for the auction to end and collect the £x00 from all the people
3. Call ebay with a "my account has been compromised" call and say you never listed the items.
4. Laugh at the fools who paid you their cash...
5. Enjoy your 100% positive feedback rating since they cannot touch it after your call to eBay.

Simply, easy, dangerous...
