Cheap HD-DVD players by Christmas ???
It is being reported that Wal-mart (aka Asda) are planning to sell a massive number of cheap HD-DVD players in the run up to Chrishmas (possibly below $200).

If true it could be decsisive in the HD format wars.

Wal-mart currently sells DVDs at a loss to attract customers and accounts for 40-45% of US DVD sales.

I also read today that the Matrix Trilogy will only be released on HD DVD format. Things seem to be hotting up and I hope Sony are in this for the long term.

HD Dvd is only 720 and Blu-Ray is 1080.......Blu-Ray is better in that fact...

They could have developed Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD)
It can hold up to 3.9 terabytes.
But yes i forgot big companies like SONY want to make money by selling us
first FLOPPY after CD next DVD and now BD.
Whats next??? Maybe PH-DVD and TeraDisc. And after these HVD.
Technology exists everything is about MARKETING.

HVD will most likely be the next format that we see in 10-15 years time. Yeah I know it sucks that they keep bringing out new formats but meh.

Before 15 years 4GIGABYTES of HDD were enough.
Now over 700GIGABYTES of HDD are enough.
