Water?
Hi There,
Yesterday i dropped a cup of water on the floor and a tiny bit of water splashed up on to the ps3. Sounds fairly dumb i know, but the ps3 is on my av stand and the cup hit the living room floor, it's just unfortunate that a splash hit the ps3. Hit other stuff too, but only in places that would cause no problems.
The ps3 is in it's vertical position, a tiny bit of water hit the side and front of the case (not an issue as there is no vent holes or places to let water in where it hit) and the top of the case where all the vent holes are. It was just one very small drop and was kind of in between a couple of the vent holes, i suspect a tiny bit may have got through one of the vent holes.
The ps3 was off when this happened but on standby, with the red light on. I obviously flicked the power switch at the back immediately.
Is this likely to have caused any damage? The ps3 was off and it really was an extremely small amount of water, if any even got into the case that is. A couple of hours later, maybe a bit late i know, i used a hairdrier to blow warm air into the top of the ps3 through the vent holes, i did this for about 10 mins.
As i said this was yesterday, i have not switched the ps3 on at all yet, it's been approx 24 hrs since it happened.
I really do look after my electronic equipment, so much so that my wife thinks im obsessive about it! I never put things in stupid places and try my best to avoid things like this happening. I'm really quite gutted.
Any help much appreciated.

nah i think it will be OK mate there's nothing to worry about, especially when you got the hairdryer on it fro 10 minutes over a small drop of water lol. So just use it as usual and see if you notice something out of the ordinary but i highly doubt it hope i helped out.

Its going to explode and send shards of awesomeness shooting through your hands and arms. Get your little sister/brother or a homeless person to turn it on for you. Or, if your not completely sure if it WAS infact, wrecked, tip another cup of water onto it.

Thanks for all the replies!
I switched it on and it's now not functioning correctly.
2 or 3 times the screen has gone black and the controller has become unresponsive, the power button was also unresponsive. The only way to switch the unit off was by using the mains switch at the back.
This has happened when launching a game and when watching a streamed movie, it never happened before the incident.
I left the unit for 4 days before switching it on. When i turned it on i installed the 1.8 update pretty much immediately. I'm now wondering if this is due to somekind of 1.8 bug, or due to what happened.
Either way i'm not too happy.
