Sony plan to ship 1.2 million units by 2007

After its initial launch of 400K units into the U.S. market, Sony plan to ship another 800K units via air-freight through the end of the year, making 1.2 million units total by 2007.
Quote:
Sony had originally intended to ship four million PS3s by the end of the calendar year.

The firm says a further 1.2 million units will be available in Japan following the initial launch-day arrival of 100K units. Analysts believe Sony will have managed a run-rate of 14 million units for 2007.
Too high a number to shoot for? Can Sony pull it off? Pre-order wherever you can folks.

This is good news prior to the shortened release of units before. The only thing that is troubling me is the price of the console and the price of the game. It surely be expensive than the other consoles, specially the ray thingy.

Expect that the price will be expensive, but not too expensive since it will only destroy its market. With the blue-ray technology prices of the games will surely be increased also. But there is a probability that the prices will drop after it is in the market for few months.

The number of units does not seem anywhere near big enough and I am sure that around a million units (if not more) could be sold in the UK alone! I hope people don't start selling them on Ebay for silly money.

I would also like to know the likely cost of the console.
