does ps3 overheat?

well I was playing ps3 today and I noticed it was gettin pretty hot. Does it overheat if it is on too long like xbox 360's do or is it made to not overheat?
thanks, zach

Well you cant really say it does not overheat, because obviously if you leave it on a long time it most probably will. I think iv heard some reports of "overheating' but if you don't leave it on too long you shouldn't have any problems with overheating, i haven't anyway, i know it does get pretty hot but that's normal.

Supposedly, a message will pop up telling you to let the system cool off. I haven't seen it yet. There's a huge fan and some gel stuff inside to keep it from overheating too.

plus the system has a feature where if it gets too hot it will automatically shut down....but that is like right before it actually overheats....
