40 gb PS3?
Apparently, Sony plans to release a cheaper model of the PS3 for people only intrested in the future of gaming
The new PS3 will retail for only $399!!! But there are some major changes:
1. No backwards compatibility (meaning it only plays PS3 games)
2. 40 GB hard Drive
3. No HDMI
4. No Wi-Fi
5. No Memory card Slots
6. No chrome finish
And there will probally be more
Here is a pic comparing the two:
The 40gb model back, then current back, then 40gb front, then current front
Note: There is also a possibiltiy that the 40gb ps3 will not be released. If they drop the price of the 80gb to $499 (which they might when 60gb stock sells out) then they will not make it.

don't be silly dude. you heard those rumours because microsoft made them up. its a load of rubbish and very unlikely. no one would buy it if it lost all those features so i think its a load of bollucks

microsoft did not make those up, sony released some of the details in a press conference. they will say more when
"this has been in the planning stages for a number of months. When asked for confirmation, Dave Karraker stonewalled us with the following statement: "We won't be making any further announcements regarding our PS3 model hardware strategy in North America until the 60GB model is exhausted and market conditions are evaluated."

if you go to google news and type in ps3. you will fing reports saying that the microsoft chief is betting on sony releasing a 40GB version. i don't know anything about sony releasing any statements so if its true then who cares. people may want to buy the console just for the ps3 games and thats it. but i don't care i'm happy with my one

Not a chance, Sony would never release a 40Gb ps3. In no way is it good for marketing purposes, or for future development especially with no HDMI port or wi-fi. This will never get released even if that statement was indeed true, its just idiotic.

o, ok.
I don't blame you, I don't think it will happen either, but if you think about it, that would be a good idea for targeting those with lower budgets. Plus it's still a better system than the equaly priced xbox 360
