HD Gaming Problem

Searched the forum and couldn't find an answer to a problem i am having playing HD games.

I originally had my PS3 hooked up using HDMI (to TV) and digital out (to receiver). Everything worked fine and I was using it at 1080i resolution. The only game that I have so far is NCAA08 and have downloaded HD trailers and demos and they all play fine.

Here's the problem... i wanted to free up the HDMI up for a DVD player that I was using prior to the PS3 (for the wife.. its easier for her to watch movies this way). So I went and bought a AV Multiport to Composite connector. I hooked it up and everything worked fine. The picture is crystal clear, the PS3 shows its at 1080i and the demo's are still great. The problem starts when I start up NCAA 08. The EA HD Gaming banner doesn't flash as the game loads. The resolution is reduced.

My PS3 is connected up to a 2nd generation Sony LCD projection TV and I just can't figure out why its doing this. Again its only with NCAA 08. The background, demo's, and downloaded video trailers all look HD.

Any thoughts?

Did you change your display settings to composite instead of HDMI?

I have a 1080i projection tv with no HDMI (its too old). Mine is also set to 1080i, but the thing is mine only shows in 1080i and 480. So that means unless the games resolution is 1080i.....it wont play in 1080i.....it gets downscaled to 480 cause thats what the tv displays.....mine doesn't do 720 which most games are right now.....i don't know about NCAA 08.....

Thats what happened to me....don't know if that helps....

One question for u is........is your tv a projection or LCD....cant be both

It is a Sony LCD Projection

KF-50WE610
Product Info

This is too much of a headache to figure out. I think I am going to go back to the HDMI and just use component for the DVD player.
