What is the best application to convert these files so I can see them on the PS3 via nero mediahome? What should I convert them to and can I keep the 5.1 sound?

The only thing I can think of is converting them to an AVI file and I'm not sure if the PS3 can read that. But here's the link to that application. Download at your own risk because I just Google searched "MKV File Converter" and that came up as one of the results. Anyway, hope that helps...
