My 80gig crapped out in less than a month. It stopped reading disks both DVD and PS games. I took it back to Best Buy and got the 40. Which is fine because I could never fill up the memory on both the 40 or 80.
oh c'mon people! At least tell me something about this version!
Ok, well the only thing you get with the 80gig is an 80gig harddrive unless it comes with a game, otherwise i'd hunt down the 20gig or 60gig, they have the PS2 chipset in them and are completely backwards compatible the 60gig also has the most sd card slots and compact flash.. i have the 60gig and now it's the most sought after version on the market because of everything it has over the others.
So if i were you i would hunt down a 60gig on ebay or something and forget about the larger capacity 80gig because you can upgrade the hardrive to what ever you want.
So you see all those people that whined about the PS3's high price when it released, ended up forcing sony's hand to release a lesser system for less money and discontinue the good models...hope their all happy.
I heard they (80g) were already pulled. I have an 80g and I don't know why they want to cut it. I think it was the best one they made. And if something goes wrong with mine, ( I bought it as Best Buy) I have to return it and get a 40g? That will be most upsetting!!!
Thats what happened to me. I wasnt very happy about it.
