Is My PS3 Broken Already?!
Hey all, Im new here. I've had the 80gig PS3 for about 2 months now and its ran flawlessly. About 30mins ago while playing MX vs ATV Untamed, the game froze. So I restart, the main Sony menu comes up, I highlight "Game", but the little blue CD isnt there that displays the title of the game.
Its like the game reader went out. So I shut down the unit, start back up. Still the same. After numerous trys, it finally read it and the little CD icon popped up and the game started. I bought the warranty thru Best Buy so if anything happened to it, I take the old one down and get a new one.
Anyone had this problem before and If I do have to take it down, will all my memory from progress in the games be lost? Thx and sorry the novel.

How about you try another game mate. That will give you a idea if its just the game or your system.
As for the game saves. Just get a USB stick and transfer the game saves onto that.

A question comes up is that, your game is a ps3 game or a ps2 game?

Its a PS3 game, and I put in the game DiRT to see if it would happen again, and sure enough it did. So I panicked and ran to the computer lol. Thanks for the help guys!

Turn on the auto-boot when you put in a game-disk? Then you don't have to scroll down to the icon, it'll boot up right when you insert it.

make sure ur memory stick is formatted to FAT32 , otherwise the PS3 will have problems reading it.

Also, when the Sony main screen is displayed and Im waiting for the game to load, I can see the "loading" icon in the top right corner of the screen. So I know its trying, it just wont fully load.
tc47, how can I make sure its formatted that way? Do you buy it that way?

insert it into your computer, then go to my computer, and you will see the device there. Right click it and press format, and make sure FAT32 is ticked, and go ahead and format it. Remember everything on it will be deleted when one formats. Do not do a quick format as there are reports of it messing up the format, so uncheck "quick format". |

Wow thanks for the tip! I never woulda figured that out. Are these memory sticks available at GameStop or other gamer stores like it?

So where is the best place to buy a memory stick? I tried GameStop but they dont carry them. Maybe Best Buy?
