Built in Wi-Fi
Free online
No RRoD
Variety of games out now and coming out

Yep. Those are good enough reasons for me. Nice job ZachT. The free online is a great thing. MS is all about buy this, and then buy that. Oh you want that too? That will only be another $100.00, it's absolutely rediculous!
Personally, I believe the quality of everything on the PS3 surpasses the 360 by leaps and bounds. Picture quality is brilliant, (especially on an HD tv.) Sound is amazing as well. I know all of this may sound a little PS3 fanboyish, but I am a sony fan. I really like what they offer. I am a person who likes to investigate my purchases before I actually buy the item. All my research seemed to point to the obvious. Thanks for reading.

Yep my thoughts exactly

oh and don't forget it is by far the most powerful console, there are certain things the PS3 can do that the Xbox360 would take days to render in full HD (procedural textures aka 4D graphics)

And don't forget these future reasons as well:
MGS4
Killzone 2
Little Big Planet
Gran Turismo 5

And Playstation Home

Finally! Another Sony fan!!!
ZachT took the words right out of my mouth. To me the PS3 is an all in one system. It has the next generation format in Blu-ray, free online play, promising exclusives this year, and the quality is great, not one problem with my 60 gigger. I and two of my friends have gotten the red rings. It's just inexcusable. I think the PS3 is the right choice.

The Red Ring Of Death (RROD) is an xbox gamers worst nightmare. What happens is they get 3 flashing red lights and their xbox wont work. Then it has to be sent in for a replacement which can take up to two months!

also with additions like home and the long awaited in game xmb, coupled with the strong lineup of games coming this year and the year to come, ps3 truly is the console of the future!

I don't think the in game XMB is to far away. I know that in CoD4 and in Army of Two you can view your friends list.

The ps3 is the greatest system ever. it better than the wii and 360. the wii's graphics do not compare to ps3's and the wii and 360's do not compare to the technology of the ps3. the sixaxis controller, the cell proscesser, blue ray, built in wifi. also playstation home and free online.

First off, it has blu-ray. if you just bought a blu-ray player, it would be more expensive than the ps3 itself. then you can play online for free, which is great compared to live for xbox. everything else between the two is practically the same but you get more out of the ps3 than u do with 360.

Now, maybe I should come in.

True, the PS3's online is free, but what you pay for, for xbox live, which is a very small amount, what, fifty dollars a year? If that's to much for you, i'm sorry. Xbox Live hardly ever goes down, you get what you pay for, and that s a reliable service. Every update they make is more or less huge over hauls, not small things every update. The online is basically, player to player connection, so if you lag, it's your fault.

Xbox yes does not support Blu-ray yet, but it's focusing more so on digital media than actual disks, hence downloadable full games, downloadable full movies, tv shows.

RRoD problems have been lessened in consoles past september of '07 due to the new falcon chipset that has been installed into the 360's made past that date.

I'd also like to point out, the 360 has a much better line up of games this year than the PS3. Not to mention the only game that has made entertainment history, Halo 3, no matter how much you debate, even if it isn't a good game to you. I can't help but agree with the millions who are still purchasing this game.

As for graphics and performance

Performance

Here’s a tough one. On paper, the Playstation 3’s Cell engine is more capable than XBOX 360’s triple-core Xenon CPU. However, as our developer alluded to last year, the XBOX 360 is much easier to develop for. In other words, a lot of the Cell’s power is going to waste. Although that is expected to change eventually, as always seems to happen with Sony’s consoles (compare early PS2 games to current games, and the same goes for PS1), one year later we’re still waiting for someone to fully exploit the system. Another indication that the PS3 is harder to develop for is the fact that almost all multiplatform games arrive weeks - if not months - after their 360 versions.

As we said last year, we fully expect the PS3 to win this category - eventually. To what extent, we’re not sure (very likely it’s only going to be the blockbuster first-party titles that take full advantage of Cell), and when this will occur, we’re not sure either. Obviously, one full year wasn’t enough.
Graphics

This is a sticky subject for a lot of fanboys. A very common argument in most flame wars is that the Playstation 3 simply “has better graphics”. I’m not sure where that argument came from; Sony obviously did a good job of marketing the system. However, the argument is entirely false. The Xenos GPU on the XBOX 360 is superior the RSX on the PS3. This is one thing that didn’t change in the past year.

Xenos simply has more power - higher fillrate, higher pixel processing power, higher vertex processing power, and better memory architecture. If you look at multiplatform games and contrast the graphics on the two consoles, XBOX 360 almost always leads. Whether they use a higher resolution or higher quality antialiasing, games often look better and/or play smoother on the 360. We looked at a handful of multiplatform games a while back, and this was always the case.

Again, we have to consider that Cell has the potential to help with graphics on the Playstation 3. As developers become more familiar with the platform, they are going to come up with new tricks to help games run smoother, and allow them to look better. However, one year after its introduction we aren’t seeing huge leaps (or even baby steps) towards this, except on a couple exclusive titles.

http://www.hardcoreware.net/playstat...ne-year-later/

Thank you.

In conclusion, I would say as of right now, if you want a gaming console, go for a 360, PS3 is more useful as a multimedia device.

And its so much quieter than the 360!
If i had the tv turned down quiet,to play my 360 late at night, the sound of it was louder than the tv.
Seriously though,i had a PS3 on launch day and sold it about 5 weeks later due to lack of games really,i was slated for doing it but so what,my money my choice. It certainly wasnt `the biggest mistake i`ll ever make`as somebody on here told me.
Now the choice of software has got more varied i bought myself a 40gb ps3 about 6 weeks ago, fitted a 250gb HDD and i was well away.I also found it easier to set up with my wireless router than the 360,but other users have had no problems.
On a final note,a year on and having owned both Xbox360 and PS3 i would recommend the ps3 over the 360.Though i might add i didnt buy it to watch blu-ray films,i bought it primarily as a games console,i dare say as the price comes down for films i might start buying them.I dont have as much time to watch films like i used to.Cheers.
