as far as i know you just have to make a VIDEO folder in the root of the memory stick for it to recognise it automatically. If that doesnt work then when you plug the memory stick into the PS3 when highlighted under the video tab hit triangle then display all and it should show everything on the memory stick

^^^You don't even need to do that. If it's a video file, it's automatically recognized by the PS3 and sorted into the Video directory of the XMB.

Same here

I have the same issue. I want to store my movies on my PS3. What is the best software to use for converting it to a format that the PS3 will accept (with the least amount of spaced taken up by the PS3) and which is the best way to transfer it to the PS3 (USB flash, Pro Duo memory stick)? Is there a link that can help with this issue?

Great site by the way
TIA
DAD.

http://www.pspvideo9.com/ is what I use. It's great at converting movies.

^^^^How long does that take for the average movie? (Hour and half, 700MB to 1GB)??

I have RedKawa or w/e right now and at Full Priority (no other programs can run except maybe music) it takes like an hour or so for a movie.

I tried slysoft

Slysoft does the same thing and I tried to watch the video on my big screen and it was too pixaly. Looked like hell. Will PSP Video 9 convert it to high resolution soI can Watch it on my 36" Sharp Aquais? There has to be a program that will convert it to MP4 for big screen TV's and still look good.

Thanks

I'll try that. I appreciate the help. Just alittle FYI if I can't seem to get it right. I'm a disabled war vetran who is a stay @ home dad. My body is pretty messed up so I have to be on meds to take care of the pain, and take care of my 3 year old daughter. To all of you this stuff may seem simple but to me it's a little out of my comprehension, so please be patient with me. Life is really hard right now....I didn't ask for this....nobody ever does

You had to say NERO...AHHHHHHH!!!! Now I'm sinking

If you could, please E-mail me on what settings need to be correct for this to happen. You said Nero home? I have Nero OEM that came with my DVD/CD burner a few years ago, will this one be okay or do I need to upgrade?

Thank you Quinnster
DAD. (A handshake to you)

SAHdad

1st forget what everyone else has said you will need either a dvd or a usb stick (i perfer the usb as you can easily copy and delete of it you will need 1 that is atleast 2 gigs).
There are any many ways that you copy movie files of your pc to your ps3 the easier method is Right click the file you want to copy then click copy then go to the usb drive and paste it after doing this put the usb drive into the ps3, a new icon will appear (usb device) under the video option. high light this icon and then press TRIANGLE you will get a side bar pop up on your ps3 then pick display all this will show you all the folders/files on the stick then you can just copy it over to your ps3.
To convert videos so that they will play on your ps3 you can use ps3 video 9 its free and is decent. The files to play on your ps3 need to have the extension *.avi *.mp4 and others which i forget the ps3 dosnt play all media types at present but if the movie file is divx encoded it will play that.

Okay, I did it useing Roxio copy and convert system with a 8GB usb memory stick.. It comes up on the PS3 as corrupted data, but when I copied it, it turned out okay. I did it as a DIVX 720p and Dolby digital so maybe it sort of mixed up the PS3's recognition data or something. Any how IT WORKED!!!!!
YEEE HAAAAH!!
Thank you!

One thing I did discover though with the MP3's. They seem to take up more space than the AAC(ACC?). Does that sound right?

Thanks.

Hey Sahdad, I don't choose to put stuff from my pc to ps cause of the space difference. Anyway fine for you. My ps3 can get into my laptop to watch any of them through windows media player.
I need to get it(ps3) to find my desk top some how.. over 2Gigs to store there.

I'm actually wanting to thank you for your service and to say I'm sorry for your loss.
I was in a motorcycle wreck last year and lost some function also.
PLz go to http://www.myspace.com/haveme1 and leave me a message I would like to talk. Your pm's here are not on.
