PS3/HDMI Audio Issue
Everything worked perfectly for a month. PS3 connected to a Westinghouse LCD via an HDMI cable. Last night I turned on my PS3 to discover that the picture was coming in fine but I had no sound. I messed about with all the settings but it just wouldn't work. When I use the regular AV cable it works fine. I tried setting the display to come from HDMI and the audio to come from the AV cable but that didn't work.
I hooked up my PS3 to my dads TV with his HDMI cable and it worked fine so that eliminates the PS3 from being faulty. Thing is is that the cable runs in the wall so I can't hook up the PS3 to my TV using my dads HDMI cable.
Also, the cable guy was here today hooking up my HD and he used an HDMI cable to go from the box to the TV and it was the same thing---picture, but no sound. He ended up using the YPbPr cables or whatever they are and it worked.
Even before we discovered there was no sound, he told me flat out that the HDMI cables that the cable company supplies people with are complete crap and he chalked up the no sound to a faulty cable. All the audio settings on my TV are correct.
So maybe I have two crappy HDMI cables? I dunno. How would it just stop working?
Any ideas/help/suggestions?
