Is This Technically Possible? (PSWii)
I have both a wii and PS3. But there is something that frustrates me about both these systems- they both contain halves of a perfect system. The PS3 is the ultimate gaming system, whereas the wii has the (makings of the) ultimate control interface with the wiimote and nunchuck.
So what I wanted to debate is...would it be tecnically possible by either sony swallowing their pride and admitting they would copy the wii, or by a third party controller developer making a wiimote controller for the PS3.
By that I am referring to the two elements that make the wiimote stand out - being used as a pointer on screen (that could be used in games such as COD4...*drool*) or, my favourite use- as a controller for games using a sword (or...cough cough....lightsaber) where your motions are mimicked by the game character.
The reason I am not satisfied with the wii in its use these techniques is that it is only gesture recognition which the wiimote translates into. For example, if you swing your wiimote, your character would swing its sword in one, predictable, unchanging action regardless of how hard you swung, in what direction or even if you did it left to right or vice verca.
Could the extra processing power of the PS3 allow for actual movement mimicking rather than gesture recognition?
How cool would it be to play StarWars force unleashed for example with the lightsabers actually moving where and how you move them!
