PS3 Reliability
Hi there. I am thinking of trading in my xbox 360 for a PS3 simply because i am sick of the consoles reliability issues, i am now on my 3rd console!
I know the failure rate of the PS3 is nowhere near that of the 360's, but is their any problems other users have experianced with the PS3? I just want to play games lol not worry about my console breaking.

Every type of electronic goods has a few which will have problems, thats just a fact of life. However, the quality of the PS3 really is very high.
Reliability isnt really something you particularly worry about with the PS3. Although having said that, the new Firmware update 2.4 did have a few issues, but this is a minor problem.
I have had all three systems, but now only have two. The 360 just had to go. PS3 is definitely the console to have for the coming couple of years.

Hi.
Honestly, the PS3 can be a bit of a hassle, but if you just take a few precautions, should be fine. I happen to be on my 2nd PS3, simply because I turned it off from the back switch before getting it to stand by mode, my mistake. You should just dust it once a week, take basic care of it, and just get it to stand by mode before flipping the back switch and it should be fine.
If you ever get this screen or anything like it-
The HDD cannot be found
Run to the place of which you bought it immediatly and switch it out, I got that, because turning it off wrong, seemed okay at first, but eventually couldn't do a thing, luckily it was still on warranty.
IF you get a PS3, and me, schaffin

^^^^I've flipped off the back switch once by mistake and nothing bad happened. Perhaps I was just lucky though. Also, I've never dusted my PS3, only the top and part that faces you so it looks nice, and I ran the fan test once in the whole time I've had it.

Oh, yes.
I forgot to mention that I did this repeatedly... Always by back switch, when I finally figured it out is was too late, and I'm not SURE you have to dust it off, but after my first PS3 broke I take very precaution just to be safe... Either way, keep these things in mind at least once your warrenty expires...
