I'm contemplating bringing this up with ADMIN. You truly are a piece of work. Don't be surprised if you get booted!

yeah I spent a good hour trying to figure it out. I still believe the reason the PS3 was scanning forever and didn't find anything was because 1)headset wasn't fully charge and 2) i connected the usb cable to the cradle (with the headset in it obviously) instead of directly to the headset...this shouldn't be a problem, either way should work, but somehow that's how it worked for me.

word of advice, if its scanning and doesn't find anything within a minute or two...try something different because it won't find anything lol... that might save time and spend less than 2 hours ...

let me know if you still have problems...ill gradly erase and reconnect my headset to do a step by step process with you..

That would be wonderful! I will be picking up the headset by saturday the 26th. I will go through the steps you've listed (because they make sense, and most likely will work), and if I have issues, I'll give you my e-mail and if you have MSN, we could totally do the step-by-step thing. I'm looking forward to bringing this issue to fruition, lol. Wish me luck, and I will update you soon!

I agree, let get back on topic and solve this problem.

Anyway, after reading all of your threads I found out how to pair your headset and how to get rid of that connection problem.

Here's what I did....

First, the headset MUST be fully charged, and how we know this? The red circle on the headset is fully on...if it is blinking means it is still charging...be patient and wait for the light to be solid red.

Once that's done, connect the usb cable DIRECTLY to the HEADSET before connecting the other end to the PS3. When you connect the cable to the PS3 you should see the headset power green light on for about 2-3 secs. It should be paired by now.

go to settings-->accessory settings-->manage bluetooth devices...you should be able to see it there..

If you click the triangle button for options, you'll see that you can click on "connect"...you should be able to do so by now right??...wrong, you"ll get the connection error...why? check this out...

disconnect the usb cable from the headset and the ps3. all lights on your headset just went off? that's right, your headset has been in pairing mode all this time, but wasn't really ON. Click the power button, you should see the green light blinking...

your ps3 should be able to recognize your BT headset automatically. no need to click connect when you press the triangle button again.

go to settings-->accessory settings-->audio device settings...if you can hear yourself, congrats!! your BT headset is ready to go

Hope this helps.

If you have any questions regarding my method or if i wasn't clear enough somewhere, let me know and ill try to figure it out...
Thanks Man this helped I thought my headset was broken.

K guys now I need help before I go insane. I can get my bluetooth connected for about...oh 5 minutes before it won't pick up my voice anymore. When I first turn on my ps3 my mic works for a little bit and then dies and i can't get it going again. So I bought a new bluetooth and it's doing the same thing. Does anyone know what to do or should I quickly bring my ps3 back?

I had the same problem with the error when trying to connect.
for those people who are encountering the problem with the error code. First of all you need to have your headset device set in pairing mode to sync with the PS3. Keep the headset connected and then go back: Accessory settings/Audio device settings once you are there change the number to 5 (usually). Then make sure input and output are set to your bluetooth headset. This worked for me, i hope it helps.

All the answers are in the instructions book that came along with the ps3 headset package!

Anyway, Turn on you PS3. Connect the usb cable with the dock station for the headset. Go to settings> hardware settings> register bluetooth> yes> search and at the same time hold the power button of you headset for like 10 sec and the green light will go red. The PS3 has recognized the hardware> now the password in this case 0000 for the original ps3 headset. This is HOW it has to be done!! Hope this helps. Sry for my bad English!

@yogy_diaz

Did you check the input and output for blutooth device at hardware settings?
Maybe the input changed. If it has been changed somehow so you should change the settings again.

@yogy_diaz & Deus156

First of all make sure your PS3 Headset is fully charged. You can look at the headset red light (cirkel) if its still blinking it not fully charged yet.

After the headset is fully charged go to the settings menu of your PS3! Don't turn on the headset just yet!!

@ Settings> go to --> Accessory Settings> then go to --> Manage Bleutooth Device> now you can register your device!

Register your device: First press and hold the on/off button in for like 5 seconds. The headset device will start and you will see a green light. At the same time when the headset is turned on press on the register device link in the PS3 settings menu.. It will start searching for the device. When the device is recognized use the passcode 0000 after that the message registered succesfully shows and now it can be used! But don't forget to change input and output for the audio device!

@ Settings> go to --> Accessory Settings> then go to --> Audio Device Settings> and select the right input device.

Output can be on TV as well as on the headset! When you hear your voiuce the device is working proper!

Hope this helps

BTW this should be on another thread! This is the chat forum not the hardware forum!

I held the power button down, and after about a minute, it recognized it ( I hear it may take up to two minutes). I then put in the pass code, 0000 and I was good to go. I don't know if it matters, but I had the cradle connected via usb cable and the headset out in my hand.

Hopefully this helps anyone who has been having this problem.

That worked!! My original PS3 (60GB 1st Gen) did not have this issue, but holding the power did the trick. Thanks man.

headset issues

Same problems here..my solution, start the bluetooth scanning on the ps2 and turn your headset on immediately after scan begins.this should find the device(any headset will work..im using motorolla). Once connection is established(you will see a little blue indicator next to the headset name on the ps2),exit out of the BT device manager menu and enter into the AUDIO DEVICE SETTINGS. There you will have to select the headset as both the input and output devices. Click ok and you should be paired correctly. Hope this helps someone as it did for me.

what i did to fix this was before i even went onto 'manage bluetooth devices' i turned my headset on, plugged it into my ps3 Via Usb cable and the as soon as i went into 'manage bluetooth devices' it said pared headset device ( bare in mind i also deleted my device from the bluetooth pared device list before doing so) Hope this helps

I had issues connecting but think I figured out a workaround for anyone having the same issue. It seems that the headset is only or best pairing mode is during the 2 seconds that the red light turns on when you connect it to the ps3. I do not think I was hitting scan for devices before I was connecting the headset.

When you are connected to the PS3 with your headset, can you hear your voice anywhere in the system...? Like in games, your settings or when you have turned on your PS3 and is in the basic menu... When I play online, a mic shows it self next to my online name, but I can't hear my voice, so I'm not sure if other gamers can hear me or the voice just doesn't work...
@maxmouse7 thank you for the insightful response! To be honest, I've been trying to find a way to get other Bluetooths that are not from Sony (ie. Jabra, Nokia, Rocketfish, etc.), with not much luck. register in the scan process.
For my roketfish, I hade to delete the connection, and reconnect it, then you have to go to the audio section after the Accessories settings, that's were you see your voice level while speaking, go to audio output/input settings on that menu, change it to your Bluetooth, and click save, my Bluetooth disconnected its input/output for some reason, if that doesn't work the idk what to tell you.

My gamertag is OrionX97, look me up.
