Problems Connecting My PS3 Bluetooth Headset to My PS3
Sponsored Links
![]() Alright, I went out today and bought the SOCOM and PS3 Official Bluetooth headset. I get home open the package and now I'm trying to get my Bluetooth headset paired with my PS3 using This is what it says according to the manual : pairinG yoUr Headset Before you can use the Bluetooth® headset with any device, such as a PS3™ system or a mobile phone, the headset must be paired with the desired device. You can pair your headset in either of two ways: • Automatic mode (using the supplied USB cable)—Enables the headset’s advanced features for the PS3™ system. Using automatic mode, you can pair (register) the headset with any PS3™ system, but only the most recently paired PS3™ system will be saved in the headset’s list of paired devices. (For more information, see “Connecting your headset to Bluetooth® devices.”) • Bluetooth® discovery mode—Sets up the headset as a standard Bluetooth® headset. Using Bluetooth® discovery mode, you can pair th headset with many other Bluetooth® devices. The eight most recently paired devices are saved in the headset’s list of paired devices. (For more information, see “Connecting your headset to Bluetooth® devices.”) ----------------- Now first of all, my headset is fully charged, Now basically I'm trying to pair my headset to my PS3 using Automatic mode in order to get all of the advanced features, however whenever I connect my headset directly to my PS3 using the USB cable, without the cradle, it never seems to work. My PS3 can detect it, however whenever I try and connect it gives the following error : A connection could not be established (80010009) WTF gives ? My headset is fully charged as instructed to do so in the manual and now for some reason it's not fully connecting with the PS3. Do you own the official headset, and how did you get it to connect via AUTOMATIC MODE ? Thanks ![]() Jordan |

I am having the same problem. I get that same error message if I select to connect the "wireless headset." If i select to register a new device, then the PS3 searches forever and never picks anything up. I have never used any wireless device with the PS3 except for the sixaxis controller. Do I have a defected headset? what should I do?

Got it
I had issues connecting but think I figured out a workaround for anyone having the same issue. It seems that the headset is only or best pairing mode is during the 2 seconds that the red light turns on when you connect it to the ps3. I do not think I was hitting scan for devices before I was connecting the headset.
The workaround after trying different methods was plugging in the headset and hitting scan for devices button while the red light was still lit on the headset. Don't know if this is the only solution but it is the one that ended my 2 1/2 hour fight with my headset. Hope this helps someone. |

This Fix Worked for me
I tried everything on here, but what worked for me was:
I pressed start scan and hit the power button on the headset at the same time. I held the power button down, and after about a minute, it recognized it ( I hear it may take up to two minutes). I then put in the pass code, 0000 and I was good to go. I don't know if it matters, but I had the cradle connected via usb cable and the headset out in my hand. Hopefully this helps anyone who has been having this problem. |

No offense Mr. Administrator, but you should be a little more constructive than that. 90% of people are going through this issue (including myself), and your comment does nothing but piss people off. Go ahead and ban me or whatever, but as an administrator, you are being nothing but a child. If we're all retards, provide a reason why, otherwise knock it off!!

Forums are designed to help people with problems....if you're just calling people names and undermining them because they may have an issue with faulty hardware (believe me, it's possible!), then you are tearing down the very meaning of this forum. Get a life and grow up!!! |

Anyway, after reading all of your threads I found out how to pair your headset and how to get rid of that connection problem. Here's what I did.... First, the headset MUST be fully charged, and how we know this? The red circle on the headset is fully on...if it is blinking means it is still charging...be patient and wait for the light to be solid red. Once that's done, connect the usb cable DIRECTLY to the HEADSET before connecting the other end to the PS3. When you connect the cable to the PS3 you should see the headset power green light on for about 2-3 secs. It should be paired by now. go to settings-->accessory settings-->manage bluetooth devices...you should be able to see it there.. If you click the triangle button for options, you'll see that you can click on "connect"...you should be able to do so by now right??...wrong, you"ll get the connection error...why? check this out... disconnect the usb cable from the headset and the ps3. all lights on your headset just went off? that's right, your headset has been in pairing mode all this time, but wasn't really ON. Click the power button, you should see the green light blinking... your ps3 should be able to recognize your BT headset automatically. no need to click connect when you press the triangle button again. go to settings-->accessory settings-->audio device settings...if you can hear yourself, congrats!! your BT headset is ready to go Hope this helps. If you have any questions regarding my method or if i wasn't clear enough somewhere, let me know and ill try to figure it out... |

![]() @maxmouse7 thank you for the insightful response! To be honest, I've been trying to find a way to get other Bluetooth headsets to work with the PS3 that are not from Sony (ie. Jabra, Nokia, Rocketfish, etc.), with not much luck. I can't even get one of them to register in the scan process. What I'm going to do this weekend is pick up an official Sony PS3 Bluetooth headset, and I will go through the steps you have listed in your response. If I have any luck (and believe me I'll try it for 2 hours, lol) I will let you know ASAP. Thanks for the help, this might be the answer! |
