PS3 skeptics

Just read an interesting article over on arstechnica.com about PS3 skeptics changing their mind about the console after spending an hour or two playing on the console.

Quote:
I must say that I have found the PS3 to be somewhat underwhelming; too expensive, rushed to market, no rumble in the controllers, no true equivalent to Xbox Live. But if I'm honest, all of those complaints were made without any first-hand experience with the system. Until last weekend, that is.

After sitting down and getting to grips with both GT:HD, and the demo for the new Formula One 2006 game, I'm suddenly quite glad our new amp has a free HDMI connection....
You can read the full passage here:
http://arstechnica.com/journals/thum...2007/2/20/7143

Given the negative press for the console i imagine a lot of the negativity may be from people who havent even played the console but would rather trash it all the same.

Do you think once the European launch is out of the way that negativity and skepticism over the PS3 will slowly start to turn round as more and more people actually get to sample the console?

Nice read. Some people I know are the same way, they don't like the PS3 because of what they have read or heard. However, once they got their hands on my PS3, they were pleasantly surprised at what the PS3 can bring.

They will eat their words soon enough.
It's funny that especially in the UK the PS3 isn't out yet and therefore hardly anyone here has had then chance to have a go on one and yet people form such harsh opinions based on basically nothing. I, however, have been lucky enough to have had a go and I think they're awesome and as soon as I get mine on March 23rd I'll be taking it to my Xbox 360 owning mates and completely rubbing their noses in it!!!

PS3 is a work of art.

What does make me laugh in this article is where the author says it's been rushed to the market....How is this possible given the amount of delays, especially in Europe. It's over 12 months behind the 360, I'd hardly call that rushed!

yeah i have to say when i heard about the ps3 coming out i was excited...then i heard about the price and i was thinking i would never buy it...ever at that price. well now i am eating my words cause i actually did some research in the last few months and realized how much i want to buy it. right now it is a great deal for what you get in just the box alone...also i have a psp so the compatibilites are amazing.
i was watching this video on the f1 game and you can use your psp as a rearview mirror while playing the game!! now that is cool

This is a big selling point for me. I love my PSP to bits and I'm interested to see where Sony and other developers can take it with the launch of the PS3. Using it as a rear view mirror is a good start...

using the psp for a rearview mirror would be annoying

It's an interesting way to utilise the PSP and PS3 together and it's definitely a good start, other ideas are bound to surface and I'm interested to see where they take it. I'd like to try it out, only I don't like F1 games so I won't be getting it.
