Hi,

I'm suddenly having major issues so would appreciate advice/help.

Turned my PS3 on today and it boots but then won't load the XMB, just sits with the moving wavy background. After reading a bit on the net quickly I tried disconnecting ethernet cable, did nothing. I then tried the "rebuild database" option in the recovery menu and the PS3 turned off, booted back up but then just sat stuck on the wavy background again (so to make it clear it didn't have any attempt at rebuilding database....).

Does anyone have any other suggestions which would not result in me losing everything!?
