dear future uk ps3 owners,

what do u think about the recent news updates about the ps3? cheaper game sthan 360? less than perfect backwords compatibility? cheaper system? all of this stuff is being thrown in your faces and i just wanna know what is your opinions on it. r u still buying a ps3? stuff likethat. id also like to say that im happy europe is getting the ps3 cuz now we can get some firmware updates for the ps3 over in canada

Not from UK but I think cheaper PS3, Cheaper games would call for a slightly cheaper PS3 without backwards compatability. I think it is worth it but again im not from the UK.

I'm from the UK and from what I know (in my local area, not the UK as a whole) there's hardly any interest in PS3 at all, apart from me that is. I'm a die hard PS man so regardless of what Sony throw at us I've still got mine on pre-order. Don't get me wrong I have been less than impressed with the way Sony have handled the European launch and was also disappointed to learn that Sony were taking away the hardware PS2 emulation and relying solely on software. This is a bit of a downer because I have some classic games for my PS2 that I just didn't want to part with. Having had time to think about it, maybe there is actually some logic in what Sony are doing. After all I'm not buying a PS3 to enjoy games I already have, I'm getting one to enjoy a whole new era in gaming and multimedia so it's not a huge loss, but a loss none the less. Also, if it does help lower Sony's overall losses and bring the price of Ps3 down sooner, then it's not a bad thing at all, when the price goes down, consumer interest will go up. Sony are also planning on removing this hardware emulation from future US and Jap PS3's but when they will start doing this is unclear.

Games pricing is a reason for us to be happy, as £40 for a first party PS3 games is excellent value!! Having said that, Play.com and Amazon.co.uk are selling games at £40 regardless of whether they are first party or not, so it's in the region of PS2 game pricing which is pretty good considering Xbox 360 games retail at around £45 - £50.

Pricing: I'm not going to go into too much detail about this as I have covered this in other posts. But for those that think £425 is a lot of money for a console, just think what you're getting for the money. Also, add up everything that you would need to buy for the Xbox 360 to make it do what the PS3 can do out of the box and I believe it would exceed £425.

With the coming of the PS3 I don't think there's anything I've looked more forward to for a long time and at this stage there's virtually nothing that could make me cancel my pre-order

I agree about the lack of excitement for the console (most of my friends all have PS2's but hardly any even knew the PS3 was coming out in March - let alone getting one).

But im sure when they've sampled the delights of mine (err PS3) they'll be eager to get their own.
