I agree with that. Even though the wii in particular has a "unique" controller, I think the ps3 one is good. My favourite two new features are the ps button and the ability to have up to 7 contollers.

The question is, if the ps3 can support up to seven, does that mean the screen would split into 7? That is very small indeed.

Heh.. Fanboys will always be fanboys. It is their opinion, I guess. I liked the controller ever since the original PS1 days, and the feel of the controller is just... so natural. Like you said, if it ain't broken, don't fix it/

Wii owners especially seem to think that the Sixaxis is copying off the Wiimote with the motion sensitivity but are quick to forget that the Wii isn't nearly as innovative as it's made out to be. Remember PS2's Eyetoy?

As far as Xbox controllers go they have no right at all to criticise the PS3 controller, I mean, after all, who enjoys playing games with a brick for a controller? Because that's exactly what the Xbox controller is.

the ps3 controller is outstanding, better then all other controllers (including ps2 and ps1) just because its lighter and ofcourse wireless. xbox controllers always tend to be way over size even though they've come up with smaller versions, the downside to the ps3 controller is its life expectancy, it sucks that every year and abit i'm going to have to dish out another $70 for a new one

so even though you can recharge them you still have to buy new ones every year or so?

yes, the battery in the ps3 controller will die eventually (after a year or so)

Well ya....controllers internal battery will wear off in about 5 years of constant playing but in a year or two the buttons start to stick maybe you droped it..motion sensing thingy stops working(if you droped it). The usual things to happen with the PS2 and PS1 controllers.

impressive replies from the very sweet couple jeter and crispino. hey jeter how long have u had the ps3 controller? ever replaced it because it died after a bit over a year? oh wait, the ps3 just came out nitwit. my ps3 manual maybe in japanese but it doesn't say anywhere that my controller's lifespan is a year and a half. i'll read it again and see if i missed it.

-Charge in an environment where the temperature is 10°C - 30°C (50°F - 86°F).
-Charging may not be as effective when performed in other environments.
-The battery has a limited lifespan. Battery duration will gradually decrease with repeated use and age.
-Battery life also varies depending on the storage method, usage state, environment and other factors

that's all i got.

According to Official Playstation Mag UK, March Edition, they ran a piece on the Sixaxis which stated:

'the PS3 controller is wireless and therefore contains a lithium-ion battery, said to be good for up to 30hours of play per charge' - Maybe someone who's got one can comment!

Also

'Wont the battery eventually wear out?
It's extremely unlikely given the reliability if the lithium-ion batteries used. And if it did happen, it would take years for you to spot any sign of battery degradation. Even so, Sony has promised to replace any controllers that do suffer. "When and if this happens, then of course we will be providing a service to exchange these items," a spokesperson said.'

Mind you I guess we'll buy new rumble controllers before this anyway!!!!
