The truth is out there?

Having played Gears of War on the xbox 360, is Resistance fall of Man going to be a let down?

I thought when playing GOW that it was the best game i had ever played of that genre. now after seeing this billed as the ps3's GOW can someone who has played both and without any bias tell me which game is the dogs bollocks?

Much obliged

Gears of War is a third-person shooter... not first-person as in Resistance. They're really different in terms of focus.

The setting of Resistance is reason enough for me to get it. GoW seems a bit formulaic in that department

Maybe you should try playing Gears. It's an incredible game.

i have played gears plenty of times and own resistance, they are both amazingg games but it depends on wut type of game u like. gears is slightly slower than resistance but the graphics are much better on gears. it depends on the gameplay. and if u like sweet weapons resistance is also better.

gears is a very very attractive game with stunning graphics, but xbox has had enough time to prefect its games, so wot do u expect? it plays well and is good fun but i found can get dull after some time.

i have not played resistance yet, but it looks great, the graphics are hot taking into view that its a release title and like its already been said, you can expect kick ass weapons and good fps fun, not to mention the superb online matches

Although the concept and some of the artistic directions are similar, but the game plays very different... Gears is a third person shooter that require you to take cover and shoot while resistance is a first person shooter that has a bit more "run n gun" action. While both games provide intense action, I personally like the cover system in Gears, and for resistance, I like the large assortment of unique weapons.

As others have already stated, both offer vast differences in gameplay to warrent each game a play through. The one thing that really sticks out about Resistance: Fall of Man is the AI. While Gear of War has a difficulty slider, all it really does is make enemies fire more accurately. In Resistance, there is a difficulty slider (easy, medium, hard) but when you crank up the settings, the enemies appear to get smarter. Actively trying to out flank you.

Online, Gears and Resistance show even more differences. Resistance is more of an arcadey FPS game in the same vein as Timesplitters. Gears is much more team oriented and tactical.
