Picked up Oblivion yesterday

I picked up Oblivion yesterday and I played it almost all night... The game looks great, and dispite a few frame rate hiccups, the game runs very smoothly. The new pixel shaders significantly helped with the texture in distant objects, and the loading times are relatively short. In my opinion, this is possibly one of the best games out for the PS3 right now.

Oh, I hope it's not noticeable... I was hoping the PS3 hardware would eliminate that.

Anyhow, I got to EB at noon yesterday and they didn't have it. I got the call at 3 pm, after I went back home so I didn't want to make the trip out there again. I was pissed since I was browsing at another EB at around 2 pm and they already had Oblivion on the shelf. But I did manage to get my hands on the original Shadow Hearts! The first time I got the game, the disc was scratched to hell, but now I have the complete series! Too bad I have to get Oblivion today so I won't be starting Koudelka. Got to finish God of War II last night as well. Lots of fun!

Unfortunately, the hiccups in the frame rate is pretty noticeable, although it doesn't happen very often. The original Shadow Hearts is an awesome game, if you like the series then you will enjoy it.

Well the 360 has a more powerful graphics card and that suffered from stuttering on a less graphically demanding version. The 360 also handles ram usage better and this is the problem...its a problem because neither console really has enough RAM to run this game. I've got 1GB of ram on my pc and that isn't enough and both the 360 and the PS3 have 512mb tops. Even if I close down everything else thats possible to close down, Oblivion still needs more. You'll notice stutters mostly when running across the map, especially when riding on horseback as the game loads the scenery. When in smaller environments such as a town or the arena or even a dungeon, the frame rate will improve significantly because there is much less to load.

The PS3 version actually took advantage of the internal hard drive and installed portions of the game onto the hard drive while using another big portion of the hard drive as virtual memory, thus helping with the RAM bottleneck. I played Oblivion on both systems, and I have to say that the PS3 version runs and looks noticeablely better than the 360 version...

I haven't played any of them. I bought them and they're just sitting on my shelf in a growing amount of unplayed games. I feel more compelled to play it once I own them all. n__n

^I might invest is Oblivion one day.

The only thing though is, you can play throught he game all in third person as well, can't you?

Or are we forced to go in the First Person view? If that's the case, then I dont think I will buy it...

You can switch between first and third person view with the press of the R3 button.

Head to the waterfront district of the Imperial City at around 10pm and follow the man with the torch. Take as many lockpicks as you can and complete his quest.

Every time I enter the Imperial city or most of the cities, the guards are after me... maybe because I have stolen goods in my bag? I don't know... So how can I stop the guards from coming after me without fighting them every single time? Do I have to go to jail or drop the stolen goods?
