what do yew think of F1?
I was looking at this in gamestation this morning, just wondering what yew guys think of the game? i like to watch it on tv and kinda love (in a weird sorta way) the games on PS2.....just wondering if this game is worth the £39.99 asking price or is it best avoided?

Get it mate its top notch especialy the sixaxis on it which is spot on, i'm currently doing a career on hard, started as a test driver for super aguri and after a season and a half am driving for the race team.
Got my game from japan and unfortunately don't understand half of the menus, and the commentary but gameplay makes up for it.
BUY IT!!!

To be honest it probably better to get a US copy as it'll only be about £25...
but i dont think u can play people in the EU...
I love F1 too, i watched the making video from Studio Liverpool ...
looks so damn good. Graphically amazing, i thinks probably the best racing game graphically.
Atleast if i get the game i can make M Schumacher win
But i personally think any game for £39.99 is alot, so i'll import most of mine i guess.
Would appriciate a review on the game from an actual owner

Meh, F1 wasn't that much of a thrill for me. There are more practice races than I wanted to do.
Check out A review of the game first

I don't like reviews much, i rather ask a owner of the game as they have first hand of what it's like...other than some guys playing on it for a day or so....personal reviews are allways better in my mind.

I'm sorry to derail the thread a little bit but I'm intrigued by what you say. From my experiences, it is no different to go to a review site or just ask for opinions on forums. Both provide me with different views of the game. I see both medium with two different axes to grind, both having pros and cons. I guess I don't see how you don't see a formal review as an opinion from someone who has the game. 99.9% of reviews give better in-depth accounts of the game than a few sentences on a forum post. Again, this is all from my experience and I'm not sure if there has been some sites that have steered you wrong but that will happen as the reviews themselves on review sites are personal opinions from people who have dedicated their lives to soaking up everything about gaming.

But those reviewers minght not like that sort of game and may not like it and give it a low score....if i was playing...uh...i duno...a Barbie game on PS2 i would review it and give it a low score...basically because i don't like that game....so if a reviewer dosn't like a certain game he wont give it a good review........it's better coming from a personal experience anyway. =]

Depends on what sort of motor racing games u like, motorstorm though i haven't played it just doesn't interest me.
With f1 if u start a career you start of by doing time trials for different manafacturers, i ended up signing for super aguri. I was signed as a test driver, you then start by doing runs of aproximately ten minute runs at the start of each grand prix in whats called race car evolution, you have to beat this time 3 times to progress with the test session you do this throughout the season. At certain times you have challenges where you have a challenge to beat your team mates times over ten minutes, usualy at silverstone, catalunya (spain) or magny cours (france). once i beat him i was then offered a place in the racing team.
During the race weekend you start off buy doing two free practice sessions on the friday and one i think on the saturday morning, where you do race car evolution. First off you start by testing fuel and tyres, then suspension, camber and a few over things. Then off to qualifying with 3 15minute sessions, yet to make it past the first one, then after that the race.
I first started on easy level which was to easy was 3 seconds a lap faster than anybody, and switched to hard which is f**cking hard. Sixaxis is amazing the feels like you are realy driving the car, and being able to control a power slide never felt so good in a racing game.
Hope this helps with your decision.

I reckon it has a steep learning curve, well for me anyway! Its hard as nails on the top settings,i play with the AI on easy but with all the aids turned off.I havent played career yet just individual race weekends,in the rain from middle of the pack is awesome. You cant see jack s**t to start with!!Worth the money in my opinion but it depends how much you like formula 1,i`ve followed F1 for some years now but i also follow the MotoGP,that will make a great game i think.
One thing with F1 championship, how do you view a replay of the race you have just run?Are replay`s only available in career mode?Cheers
