Rock Band

If you haven't heard already EA have announced a new PS3 title in the works - Rock Band.

The plan is that both versions for Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3 will have four instrument-based controllers composed of the lead guitar, bass guitar, drum kit, and microphone. The idea was to expand the concept of Guitar Hero, where players follow the on-screen notes with a guitar-shaped controller with color-coded fret keys strapped on to them.

Says Harmonix co-founder Alex Rigopulos, Rock Band "takes the core premise of Guitar Hero and expands it tenfold... It lets you create a complete collaborative band."

How cool does that sound?

Anyway, it seems that not wasting any time GameStop has thrown up the accessories list for this game along with prices.

The online store lists the game for US$ 59.99 and marks the pre-release ship date for November 1, 2007. As for the accompanying controllers, here's the list for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions:

* Rock Band Drum Set: US$ 79.99
* Rock Band Guitar Controller: US$ 59.99
* Rock Band Microphone: US$ 39.99
* Rock Band Wireless Guitar Controller: US$ 79.99

As a bassist, albeit the worst one in the history of ever, I'm disapointed that gamespot don't have a bass guitar available. us bassists are always hated on

I played bass out of necessity basically. I'm a fairly tall bloke and as such my hands and fingers are too big to easily play guitar. A 4 string bass suited me perfectly.

I don't understand why people find so much enjoyment in playing these types of games, but then never make an effort toward the actual instruments.

I do like guitar hero, don't get me wrong, but I am also learning to play a guitar.

On another note (no pun intended), Rock Band sounds cool and will give players another reason to socialize a bit more. I wonder if you ever get to make your own music?

What about the guys and girls that have not got a musical bone in their body. How do you know that they never make an effort to play the real thing.? And who is who anyway. For some people these games caould make them see another side of music that both of us might not know. For example autistic children., even the very experienced. I teach drums to kids and also adults well into the age of 50 also, and i have this one fella( top bloke) and he loves music but has not a musical bone in his body. alot of these kids mothers think i am a gifted teacher, but do you think that i can teach this guy quickly. I'm afraid not. With this one guy i feel like a failure in my art, but yet all the others are no worries at all. I thought your question was good and found it hard not to answer it. All this color coordination and mathimatical thinking is great and would appeal to many.When reading drum music it is kinda mathematical in a sense. Deviating from the norm can be bad but also can be good as we are all born with freewill and are open to learning more than 1 way. Thats my opinion anyway. Regards Grassy.....

Im gonna Pwn at this game lol (The name) of course i play guiatr in real life and im pretty kick ass at it Im soo gonna get all the controllers but Guitar first :P

Plus to relate to Hworangs post actually games like Guitar Hero is pretty good if your learning how to play an instrument but if you can play AC/DC in that game and think that you the best Guitarist in the world Whoa buddy you got a long way to go. All im syaing is i agree and dont agree with you. I agree that yes its true that most of them do play this game and dont actually play the instrument but i dont agree because in Guitar hero it helps your fingers getting used to play fast, it works the finger mucsles, it helps with timing, and it can also help you rock out to the song when your playing a real gig (idk if that will help but its a bonus) and i belive that will be the same with Rock Band

Cant Wait For This Game!!
