XBox to start using Blu-Ray....maybe

There is Bad news on the horizon for X-Box 360's HD-DVD Drive owners as Peter Moore told Rachel Konrad on a recent trip to Japan while entering negotiations with Pioneer. Microsoft's Xbox corporate VP of worldwide marketing and publishing Peter Moore told Japanese site ITmedia that the imminent release of the Blu-ray Xbox 360 peripheral could appear for the system before Christmas. Moore admitted that Microsoft's opinion on HD-DVD as the Next Generation format winner is bleak with the worst-case scenario being a repeat of the Beta vs.VHS war of the '80s. Moore also added Microsoft is giving the consumers the most cutting edge technology out there and In this moment in time Blu-Ray is that.
As per usual Peter Moore couldn't help but have a go at Sony and the PS3 "However, he suggested that whatever the outcome of the HD-DVD/Blu-ray war, the Xbox 360 can adopt the dominant format since its uses an external drive. He also suggested that it's a weak point for PlayStation 3, saying Sony's system is stuck with only 1 format. Microsoft announced the Blu-Ray peripheral will connect to the Xbox 360 using one of the system's USB ports. Moore once again confirmed that the Blu Ray add-on for the Xbox 360 is only for watching movies, and there are currently no plans to use it for games, nor are there plans to release an Xbox 360 with an internal Blu Ray drive.

Yeah I heard this a recently.
Apparently the Blu-Ray is a weak point for the PS3? How do they work that out? If they can release a BR drive for 360 what's to stop Sony releasing a HD DVD drive for PS3? Saying that PS3 is stuck with one format is like saying that 360 is stuck with DVD 9 which just isn't true. That's what the 4 USB ports on the front of the PS3 are for, they open up possibilities of future accessories such as the forthcoming camera, or possibly a HD DVD drive if BR does fail as a movie medium.

Mikey no. How are they stealing? Think about it, they can't steal something Sony owns, they're obviously licensing the technology from them. It's a good move by MS, and also good for Sony and their Blu-Ray medium. 
Fanboyism doesn't even enter the equation here.

first they copy the colour, the HDMI port and also want to steal our games....now they are getting our technology......oh no! no one is acusing microsoft of copying are they? when they clearly are!

Scoot i dont think you understand, microsoft are copying sony because MS cant face it that hd dvd was a bad move and blu ray was an exellent move on sonys part so dont stick up for microsoft

I'm not sticking up for anyone Mikey. Ok in that case did Sony steal the idea for dual analogue control from Nintendo? It was on the N64 before it was on Playstation. It's clearly a case of influence. It makes perfect sense for MS to do this, it gives 360 owners more choice. Fair play to them. If it was stealing, Sony would sue, just like Immersion sued Sony and MS for 'stealing' the rumble feature. It is not theft, get over it. Yours is a typical fanboy attitude.

Yes i know what your saying, but shouldnt MS just stick to hd dvd and sony stick with blu ray. But u have to admit microsoft thought that hd dvd would be better then blu ray but they were wrong, so there thinking hey ps3 have blu ray we will have that too do you know what i am saying.
