Shit. I was hoping this game would be good but seems that it wont. So far it's managed a 6.0, 5.5 and 5.0. Sony needs Killzone 2 and MGS4 to be amazing now.

Disappointing. I was looking forward to it as well. Nonetheless I'll still wait and see what OPM make of it. I won't have to go searching either since I'm a subscriber.

In any case we still have Heavenly Sword and Warhawk. I genuinely think there's nothing to worry about with Killzone 2. I'm seriously looking forward to that one. I don't think there's any doubt over MGS 4 either. Also lets not forget FF XIII. Oh yeah, and LBP.

thats because egm are fags that don't like the sixaxis controls only...wait until other sites post their reviews...

but you can't really know if you like it until you play it

Dude 3 different sources have given it low reviews. It reminded me of a game I had on Gamecube. It was based off some random movie about dragons and was quite fun despite it getting shit reviews. Hopefully Lair will be similar.

the game will be top dog. forget what these idiot reviews say. let the ame come out, let opm have their say and then test it for yourself. many magazines said metroid prime was better than halo 1 but was it, hell no! even though i don't like halo or xbox but still

metroid prime was easily as good as halo 1

edit: and waiting for OPMs review on a playstation exlcusive is like waiting for Ford to tell you whether their new car is good or not.

ok i'll shurrup now, but befor i do..who gives a shit? i'm still getting it. it looks amazing and the videos i've seen of it (gameplay) make me want to buy it even more. i've brought games in the past that had low review scores and they turned out to be a blast..but that's just a small % of the shitty games i buy..owell

Yea, gonna have to agreee that EGM is only 1 source. Maybe 3 reviewers, but all working under the same roof. Probably friends as well. This game looks amazing, and I know for a fact I will enjoy playing it.

Few things First I never saw anywhere a pic or link to the review just a claim from some guy who obviously wanted the game to fail in the first place. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just one guys claim and people said it to just to bash the game. Just like the time Distrotoid "

Confirmed

" that MGS4 was going the Xbox360 also. Other websites reviewed it and gave it good scores.

GAME ZONE gave LAIR 9.0

GAME PRO gave LAIR 7.5

EDGE gave LAIR 9.0

PLAY gave LAIR 9.0

GAME PRO has given LAIR a very good score.
LAIR lost points just because of CONTROLS....i mean on AIR u are allowed to use only the SIX AXIS which takes time to get used to.

GAMEPRO - 3.75/5 (A)

Pros: Gorgeous graphics, amazing orchestral soundtrack, dragon based action is fun.

Cons: The decision to use a SixAxis only control scheme hurts more than it helps.

ON THE CONTROL SCHEME ISSUES:

"To be fair, the motion sensing is pretty accurate but requiring you to constantly move your hands around while fiddling with buttons over the course of a fairly long game is asking too much. It's unfortunate that the game relies so heavily on a gimmicky feature that no one has been able to get a true grasp of (pun intended)."

ON THE GOOD QUALITIES:

"At it's best, the dragon-based combat of Lair is pretty damn awesome. Soaring around majestically in the sky; raining hot fiery dragon-breath death upon your foes' heads; grappling with other dragons and clawing their eyes out; leaping onto an enemy dragon-rider's back and hacking at him with your weapon; swooping down onto the ground and rampaging around like Godzilla--there's no shortage of thrills to be had."

SOME ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

"I should point out that we were playing an early review build and Factor 5 will probably make tweaks up to the moment the gold master goes off to the mastering lab, but the core gamepaly mechanics are already in place and there's no denying that it's flawed. I expect many fans will be disappointed thanks to all of the hype that's built up around the game, but the inevitable complaints about the control scheme will no doubt be warrented. Despite all this, Lair still manages to be a decent title that all PS3 owners should look into but you may want to reserve your true excitement for the day when the other hotly anticipated PS3 titles like Heavenly Sword arrive."

ON THE GROUND CONTROLS:

"The Sixaxis-only control scheme that plagues the game is noticeably absent when you land your dragon on the ground as the analog sticks take over, making it easier to wreak havoc."

Their complaining that it takes time to get used to the controllers witch are different and that’s why some people didn’t like the game

Hardly. Being a reader of the various iterations of official playstation mag for years now I think that qualifies me to be able to comment on how fair and balanced their reviews are on the whole. They don't always rate Sony games high, they give them scores that, for the most part are accurate (they gave Resistance 7/10 and, while I expected it to be rated higher, 7 is all it deserved). Therefore, if Lair really is bad I fully expect them to rate it as such. I know it's all based on opinion but I have bought many games purely on the strength of their reviews only to totally agree with them around 90% of the time.

i think the controls will be fun to play...sitting in my living room with my new hdmi cables and swinging my controler around while i yell at my dragon to attack attack!!! great fun expecially after a few beers
