Do i need to play mgs 1,2,3 to be into 4?
ive never played a mgs, and im not sure why, but i guess its because i missed the first game then got lost in the complexity of the story. i will def try to get 2 and 3 but do i need to play the first game to really be unconfused??

wont i be really confused for the story though? ive been trying to read summmaries on the internet but they are pretty damn complex

well go ahead and play 1...
it's about 3 discs i believe (minght be 4 i duno) and the graphics suck lol
but i got into it straight from 2

you need 2 play all of em 2 get all the story, but if u cant be bothered with the standard long cut scenes and jus wanna play, it will be a top game to jus pick up and play without botherin wi the story

also, theres going to be a MGS 20 year collection pack that includes all the games, so that might be a good thing to get if you've never played all of them or dont have them.

yeah i haven't played them but at friends houses...it was cool but at the time i just didn't buy a lot of games so i never beat any of them but i do know they are freaking complex with the story

you really should play all 3 if you can if not play 2 and 3. you can read the entire story for 1 on 2 though if i remember right it's about 250 pages long. and you might get lucky and they'll put a recap in 4 if you need one. after all technically mgs4 is number 6 in the mg series but most fans never played mg or mg2 tell mgs3 substance. my best advice is you should play them but you should beable to just play mgs4 alone.

well i for one have never played any and am still juiced for this game. just a thought how cool would it be if the was a site dedicated to cliff notes but for games with in depth stories so one coud jump into any series at its latest installment and not miss anything.

go to youtube and search for (metal gear full story) look for part 1 and work your way up tell your done with MGS then start MGS2. sorry couldn't find for MGS3 but these should help out but beworned each part seems like it about 25 to 35 min. long and i haven't watched them.

get a ps1 emulator, that's what I did for Final Fantasy IX. I found MG1 rom on thepiratebay.org but its a big download and I haven't started it yet.

yeah if anyone can find a good way to learn about the mgs storys then let us know...i guess i'll try the youtube one but i like to read things...but i've only played a little of these games and know that they are like super complicated...

I had the Jap import of the PS1 MGS and played though it and beat it, I then played the english version through again coz I just thought it was awesoe! I didn't care much for the other 2 on PS2, too much cut scenes etc. Can't wait for MGS4 tho.

i hope konami releases the 2oth anniverery mgs collection cuz then i can play them all. that or sony puts mgs1 on the psn. thad be awesome
