Lair is marmite
What I mean is you'll either love it or hate it... played it on import today and can't say I am too impressed... the sixaxis idea is nice but not as tight as what Warhawk is... which is what it feels like anyway, except Medieval. I personally didn't like it.
However, I downloaded Stranglehold and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground from the PSN US store and I must say Proving Ground proves to me Tony Hawk's games are back in the zone.
Yeah, skate is innovative playing but Tony Hawk's tops it bar none... the rigging idea is sound and the slo-mo nail the trick moves are very sound. Graphics were crisp, yeah we have crazy non-realistic gravity in there but hell that's what made Tony Hawk's games so fun! No sign of lamer Bam Margera at the moment. All in all a nice return with some new functionality. Thumbs up.
Stranglehold... wow, if you love John Woo films... this IS a John Woo game! It's really addictive, styling out different kills is pretty fun to do... The levels are linear but there's a lot to do. It doesn't get repetitive as there are many things you can shoot to interact with. For example, I was in a construction site and precision aimed at each guy in the rafters and one guy fell into a sign causing two others to fall to their deaths... same area but I destroyed a sign and that caused an explosive chain reaction taking out all the enemies up there!
The delay is a pisstake, but Jericho is coming my way so I am not disappointed. I highly recommend this game too.
Happy gaming!
